Alex Bregman 3B | BOS
Red Sox's Alex Bregman: Resumes baseball activities
Bregman (quadriceps) has begun his baseball activities progression, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reported Saturday.
Bregman has started swinging and fielding, marking the first time he's participated in baseball activities since being placed on the injured list May 24 with a strained right quad. The third baseman had previously indicated he might skip a rehab assignment, so he may only have to clear a few more hurdles before being cleared to return from the 10-day injured list.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Slugs 12th homer
Machado went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored Friday in a loss to Kansas City.
Machado had two of San Diego's three extra-base hits in the loss, knocking a ground-rule double in the seventh inning and a solo homer in the ninth. The veteran third baseman continues to pick up the pace in the power department -- after going deep just three times in his first 48 games, Machado has homered nine times in his subsequent 27 contests. He's also been able to maintain a high batting average, as he's currently on pace for a career-best mark at .311 through 318 plate appearances.

Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Suffers setback

Hill hasn't given up an earned run in any of his past 12 outings spanning 11 innings.
During the streak, Hill has posted a modest 5:3 K:BB but has given up only seven hits and one unearned run. The lefty reliever also has two holds during that span, though he isn't a major source of holds with just five through 34 outings on the campaign. Red Sox's Jordan Hicks: Aiming to join BoSox on Friday
Manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Hicks (toe) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on Sunday and has "a good chance" of joining the team Friday Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Hicks has been on the shelf since June 3 due to right big toe inflammation, but he's expected to begin a rehab assignment before hopefully joining the big-league club Friday. Hicks was traded to Boston as part of the Rafael Devers deal after logging a 6.47 ERA in 48.2 innings with the Giants this season.

Jordan Westburg 3B | BAL
Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Lifted in third inning
Westburg exited Saturday's game against the Yankees in the third inning due to left hand discomfort, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Westburg started Saturday's game at DH and drew a walk and stole second base in the first inning but was replaced by Coby Mayo during his next at-bat. For now, Westburg can be considered day-to-day, though he'll likely continue to be evaluated throughout the next 24 hours.

Jonah Heim C | TEX

Austin Cox RP | ATL
Braves' Austin Cox: Back in Atlanta
Atlanta recalled Cox from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
With Chris Sale (ribs) headed to the injured list, Atlanta will bring up Cox to provide the club with some extra bullpen depth. The 28-year-old southpaw hasn't appeared in an MLB game yet this year, but he owns a 4.05 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 26.2 innings split between Atlanta's and Kansas City's Triple-A affiliates.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Braves' Chris Sale: Placed on injured list
Atlanta placed Sale on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a fractured left ribcage, retroactive to Thursday.
Sale made a diving play in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game against the Mets, though it seems he suffered a bit of damage to his ribs in the process. He'll be eligible to return from the IL in early July, though it's currently unclear if he'll need more than a minimum-length stay. Austin Cox will come up from Triple-A Gwinnett to give Atlanta extra bullpen depth while the team looks for a rotation replacement.

Wyatt Langford LF | TEX
Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Idle Saturday
Langford (back) isn't part of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.
Manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that Langford was day-to-day due to back stiffness, and the outfielder will get Saturday off for recovery purposes. In his place, Sam Haggerty will bat second and patrol left field.
