  • Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Racks up four RBI in victory

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 10-6 win over Texas. Swanson first cracked a solo homer off Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin to get the Cubs on the board in the second inning. The veteran shortstop then put Chicago in front 4-3 with a sacrifice fly in the fourth frame, and he gave the club an 8-6 lead with a two-run single in the eighth. Although Swanson is batting just .226 over 53 at-bats, he's already up to four big flies, 11 RBI, nine runs scored and two steals in 14 outings.

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Padres. Swanson has his power stroke working lately, as that's now three home runs over his last six games. The shortstop isn't doing much else at the plate, as he's only batting .233, though fantasy managers won't complain about the long balls. Swanson hit 16 home runs last year, and he could fly past that number if he sustains his recent level of performance.

Following a slow start to the campaign, Swanson has gone 4-for-9 with four RBI over his past two contests.

  • Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Hits first home run

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Diamondbacks. Swanson connected for his first home run of the season against the team that drafted him first overall back in 2015. The shortstop had 16 long balls a year ago, which snapped a three-season streak of hitting at least 20 home runs. If he stays healthy, Swanson should be able to make a run at the 20-homer plateau again in 2025.

  • Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Reaches twice, swipes bag in loss

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 8-1 loss to the Diamondbacks. He also stole a base. Swanson is off to a decent start early in the season, as he now has a hit in three of Chicago's first four games, though he's still seeking his first multi-hit effort. The shortstop also recorded his first stolen base of 2025 on Friday. Swanson underwent core muscle surgery in October, but he returned in time for spring training and looks fully healthy to begin the year. He could be primed to once again reach double figures in steals and home runs, something he's done twice over the past three seasons.

Swanson (abdomen) expects to be a full participant in spring training, Sahadev Sharma and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic report. • Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Underwent core surgery

Swanson underwent surgery to address a core injury in early October, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. Going under the knife immediately after the end of the regular season should allow Swanson to return in 2025 without missing any time. The 30-year-old infielder slashed .242/.312/.390 with 16 homers, 66 RBI and 19 steals during his second season in Chicago and is expected to remain the Cubs' everyday shortstop next season.

  • Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Getting rare day off

Swanson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies. Swanson looks to be receiving some routine maintenance after he had been in the lineup for every game dating back to June 14, a stretch of 87 consecutive starts. Unless he's used off the bench, Swanson will put a five-game hitting streak on hold before likely returning to the starting nine Tuesday. Luis Vazquez will fill in for Swanson at shortstop on Monday.

The shortstop continued his strong finish to the season, as he's slashing .316/.366/.513 this month with four home runs, 11 RBI and 20 runs scored across 18 games. Swanson's overall stat line will still come in below his usual standards, but he's possibly building some momentum heading into 2025.

The shortstop has been solid this month with a .319 batting average, three home runs, 10 RBI and 19 runs scored through 17 games. The shortstop has still offered decent counting stats with 14 home runs, 58 RBI, 72 runs scored and 23 doubles over 138 contests, but his .685 OPS is his lowest mark in a full season since 2017.

Swanson went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, an additional run scored and three total RBI in Wednesday's 12-0 win over the Pirates. Swanson is now up 14 long balls for the season. The 30-year-old might be hard pressed to reach the 20-homer plateau for the fourth straight year, though given his recent hot streak, it's not out of the question with 22 games to go.

The 30-year-old's MLB track record suggests he could sustain this level of production and finish the season on a high note.
