Scott allowed an RBI double to Jackson Merrill in the 10th inning, but he was able to strand the young Padre at second base to end the back-and-forth contest. This was Scott's second save in his last three outings, which comes after manager Dave Roberts indicated the Dodgers are using a committee-based approach to closing duties. That was necessitated by Scott's bumpy stretch from May 20 to June 2, when he allowed 12 runs (10 earned) over six innings while converting just one of four save chances. Nonetheless, he remains in the late-inning mix. He's at a 4.11 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 35:4 K:BB while adding 12 saves and five holds over 30.2 innings this season. The Dodgers are 40-27 following Monday's win, so there are plenty of saves to go around -- they are one of nine teams in the majors so far to accumulate 20 saves as a team.

Though it wasn't a save situation, Scott struggled again Monday, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk in the 10th inning to take the loss. Over the lefty's past seven outings, he's given up 12 runs (10 earned) across six frames while taking two losses and blowing three of four save chances. It's unclear how Roberts will manage ninth-inning opportunities moving forward, and while Scott may continue to notch save chances in certain matchups, more looks could go the way of Alex Vesia (who has the team's most recent save, which took place Friday versus the Yankees) and Kirby Yates (hamstring), who is on the IL but appears to be nearing a return. Michael Kopech (shoulder) racked up six regular-season saves with Los Angeles after joining the team in late July last year and could also be an option for ninth-inning work down the line; however, he hasn't yet pitched for the Dodgers this year and has an 8.53 ERA through eight minor-league rehab appearances, so he probably will be eased into high-leverage work after being activated off the IL.

He now carries a 4.62 ERA on the season despite a 1.11 WHIP and 28:3 K:BB in 25.1 innings, and with five blown saves against 10 successful conversions, his job at closer could be in jeopardy, especially once the likes of Kirby Yates (hamstring) and Michael Kopech (shoulder) come off the IL.

Seven different Dodgers relievers have a save this season, but Scott is the clear leader of the pack with 10 saves (no other Dodgers pitcher has more than two). As such, he should be viewed as one of fantasy's most desirable relievers despite the fact that he'll occasionally be used in high-leverage situations before the ninth inning.

Although the Dodgers aren't short on other high-leverage arms with closing experience, Scott should still remain the favorite for saves going forward despite Tuesday's hiccup.
