Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Smashes first homer Thursday
Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Rays.
Cabrera took Rays right-hander Taj Bradley deep in the fifth inning for the switch-hitter's first homer of the year. Although he's batting a strong .308 over 39 at-bats (13 games) to begin the season, Cabrera now has just one extra-base hit to go with zero stolen bases, so he doesn't carry much fantasy upside while regularly batting near the bottom of New York's lineup.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Sitting again Wednesday
Cabrera is not in the Yankees' starting lineup against the Royals on Wednesday.
The switch-hitting Cabrera has gone 4-for-6 with a walk versus southpaws this season, but he has yet to receive a start against a lefty as he is working in a platoon with Oswald Peraza, who is starting Wednesday at the hot corner and batting ninth against Royals left-hander Kris Bubic. Cabrera is slashing .278/.333/.278 with four runs scored and 10 RBI across 39 plate appearances to start the season.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Cabrera has operated as the Yankees' primary third baseman early in the season but will take a seat Tuesday after starting the previous three games. He's batting .278 though 39 plate appearances but doesn't have any extra-base hits. Oswald Peraza is taking his place at the hot corner.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Getting afternoon off
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.
Even though Cabrera and Oswald Peraza are both right-handed hitters, the two appear to have settled into a de facto platoon at third base. All seven of Cabrera's starts have come against right-handed pitching, and all four of his absences from the lineup have come when the Yankees have faced left-handers. Peraza will make his third straight start against a southpaw Tuesday as the Tigers send ace Tarik Skubal to the hill.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Sitting again Sunday
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Cabrera will take a seat for a second day in a row after starting at third base in each of the preceding five contests. Though Cabrera is batting .316 on the season and still appears to be the preferred option at the hot corner, manager Aaron Boone will reward Oswald Peraza with another start after Peraza went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in Saturday's 10-4 win.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Getting breather Saturday
Cabrera isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.
Cabrera will get a chance to rest Saturday after going 3-for-4 with a walk and four RBI during Friday's win in the series opener. Oswald Peraza will fill in at the hot corner and bat eighth.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Drives in four in win
Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a walk and four RBI in Friday's 9-4 win over the Pirates.
Cabrera had a two-run single in the second inning to open the scoring before adding an RBI single in the third and a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. Prior to Friday, the 26-year-old had yet to log an RBI all season, though this was his second multi-hit effort. He's batting .316 (6-for-19) with two walks over 21 plate appearances across seven games so far, and he's seeing strong-side platoon duties at third base in the absence of DJ LeMahieu (calf).

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Sitting Saturday
Cabrera is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.
Cabrera registered only a .469 OPS against left-handers last season, so he'll step out of the starting nine Saturday with Nestor Cortes due to take the mound for Milwaukee. Pablo Reyes will draw the start at third base and bat seventh.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Belts second spring homer
Cabrera went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk Sunday in a Grapefruit League victory against the Rays.
Cabrera reached in all four of his plate appearances, and his performance was highlighted by a solo shot to left-center field in the fourth inning. Though he played first base in the contest, Cabrera could fill in as New York's starting third baseman with DJ LeMahieu likely to open on the IL due to a left calf strain. Cabrera has proved worthy of a chance to start with his play this spring, as he's slashing .333/.405/.515 with two homers, three RBI, five runs and a stolen base over 37 plate appearances.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Back in lineup
Cabrera (illness) will start in right field and bat fourth in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays.
An illness has prevented Cabrera from playing since Thursday, but a couple days of rest has him ready to return to action Saturday. The 26-year-old has had a relatively nice camp, going 8-for-28 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored over 10 games.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Out Thursday with illness
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Cabrera was scratched from the lineup for Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers due to an illness, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
Oswald Peraza was a late addition to the Yankees' lineup in place of Cabrera, who was scheduled to start at third base and bat eighth. Provided the illness isn't anything that keeps him out of commission for more than a few days, Cabrera should still have a good case to make the Yankees' Opening Day roster, especially with DJ LeMahieu (calf) likely to begin the season on the injured list.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Could claim starting 3B job
Cabrera is among a group of Yankees who could start at third base on Opening Day if DJ LeMahieu (calf) isn't ready to play, CJ Haddad of MLB.com reports.
LeMahieu has said that he doesn't think his calf injury is serious, but the issue nonetheless puts his Opening Day status in doubt. Cabrera could be the next man up if LeMahieu misses regular-season time, as he logged 74 games at the hot corner last season and entered camp as the favorite to back up LeMahieu at the start of the upcoming campaign. Cabrera's stiffest competition for the role, should it become available, is probably Oswald Peraza, though Pablo Reyes -- who is in camp as a non-roster invitee on a minor-league deal -- could theoretically factor into the mix as well.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Back at first base for Game 3
Cabrera will start at first base and bat eighth Wednesday in Game 3 of the ALDS in Kansas City.
Cabrera started Game 1 before yielding to Jon Berti in Game 2, but he will be back at first base for Game 3. The switch hitter went 1-for-4 with a double and three strikeouts in the first game of the series.

Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Starting at first base in Game 1
Cabrera is starting at first base and batting eighth in Saturday's Game 1 of the ALDS against Kansas City.
Cabrera played primarily at third base during the regular season but made five starts at first. Jazz Chisholm is locked into the starting role at the hot corner for the postseason, so Cabrera is needed much more at first base with Anthony Rizzo left off the roster due to a pair of fractured fingers. Ben Rice is also on the team's ALDS roster as an option at first base.
