Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Gets in on history with homer
Peraza went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run Saturday in a 20-9 win against the Brewers.
Peraza didn't start the contest, but he was given a chance to pinch hit with New York up 18-6 in the seventh inning. The 24-year-old took advantage of the opportunity, drilling a two-run blast to left field. The long ball was the Yankees' ninth of the game, establishing a franchise record.

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Could be nearing end in New York
Peraza appears to have been surpassed by Pablo Reyes on the Yankees' depth chart and is on the outside looking in for an Opening Day roster spot, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Early in spring, Peraza was viewed as a candidate to start at third base due to DJ LeMahieu (calf) being set to miss the beginning of the campaign. However, Oswaldo Cabrera has likely locked up that role with a solid exhibition slate while Peraza has slashed just .167/.273/.188. Even more detrimental for Peraza's outlook is that Reyes has had an outstanding spring with a .326/.434/.488 slash line and is also capable of playing more positions on the field. Peraza is out of minor-league options, so if he doesn't make the Yankees' Opening Day roster, the team would need to designate him for assignment.

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: In mix for possible 3B opening
Peraza is a candidate to start at third base on Opening Day if DJ LeMahieu (calf) isn't ready to play by then, CJ Haddad of MLB.com reports.
Though LeMahieu has said that he doesn't think his calf injury is serious, his Opening Day status is nonetheless in doubt. Oswaldo Cabrera is the favorite to move into a starting role at the hot corner if LeMahieu is sidelined for any regular-season time, but Peraza could push for the potential opening with a strong spring. Through five spring games, Peraza has gone 4-for-12 with an RBI and three runs while Cabrera has batted 2-for-13, though the latter has a home run and a stolen base as part of his stat line.

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Optioned to Triple-A
The Yankees optioned Peraza to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
Since coming up from the minors Aug. 14, Peraza has appeared in four games and gone 2-for-10 with a home run and two runs scored. No corresponding move for his demotion has been announced yet, though he was initially recalled to serve as a roster replacement for Jazz Chisholm (elbow), who is eligible to return from the injured list Friday.
