  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Optioned to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Bido to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Bido earned a spot on the Athletics' Opening Day roster, but he struggled across his nine starts, posting a 5.82 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB across 43.1 innings. He'll go down to Triple-A to regain his form while Matt Krook and Anthony Maldonado join the big-league pitching staff.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Hit hard early

Bido (2-4) allowed six runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 1.2 innings to take loss versus the Dodgers on Thursday.

Bido gave up three runs in each of the first two innings and still got out of the game before the bulk of the Dodgers' offensive onslaught. Jason Alexander was tagged for nine runs over 2.1 innings of relief after Bido's exit. Bido has had a few duds this season, but this was the first time he's failed to complete five innings. He's allowed four or more runs in four of his last five starts and now has a 5.82 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB across 43.1 innings. The right-hander is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Angels.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Gives up two homers in loss

Bido (2-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Yankees on Friday.

Bido gave up back-to-back homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Jasson Dominguez in the third inning. The Athletics' offense showed up too late to make a difference in the contest, leaving Bido with the loss, his second in four outings. He's allowed 17 runs (16 earned) over 21 innings in that span. The right-hander has completed five innings in all eight of his starts this season, but he's yet to finish six frames. He's at a middling 4.75 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 27:16 K:BB over 41.2 innings overall. He's lined up for a difficult road start versus the Dodgers next week.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Allows four runs in no-decision

Bido didn't factor in the decision Saturday in Miami after giving up four runs on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander gave up just a two-run homer to Kyle Stowers across the first four frames Saturday, but Miami rallied for two more runs in the fifth to end Bido's afternoon. The 30-year-old has covered at least five frames in all six of his starts this season, but he's now surrendered seven homers in his past four outings after keeping the ball in the yard across his first three starts. A home matchup with the Yankees next weekend is unlikely to solve his issues with the long ball.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Decent in no-decision

Bido took a no-decision Sunday against the White Sox, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out one.

The 29-year-old right-hander faired well in this 90-pitch outing, firing 58 strikes. The lone blemish on Bido's performance was a leadoff 400-foot home run surrendered to Joshua Palacios to open the game, which is the third straight start in which he's allowed a homer. Through 31.1 innings, Bido has pitched to a 4.88 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Marlins in Miami next weekend.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Trampled by Texas

Bido (2-2) took the loss Tuesday as the A's fell 8-5 to the Rangers, surrendering eight runs on eight hits -- including four home runs -- and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

The right-hander came into the night having served up just one long ball in his first four starts, but Bido was victimized by his home park Tuesday, as Sutter Health Park continues to be very hitter-friendly. He has yet to last six innings in any of his five trips to the mound this season, hurting his fantasy value in formats that use quality starts, and his 4.85 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 16:10 K:BB through 26 innings aren't very appealing either. Bido will look to rebound in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the White Sox.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Nabs win despite no punchouts

Bido (2-1) earned the win over the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He did not strike out any batters.

Bido didn't miss many bats with a modest seven whiffs and zero strikeouts, but he nonetheless pitched effectively. The right-hander gave up just one run (on a Brooks Baldwin solo homer) and threw an efficient 55 of 83 pitches for strikes. Bido is far from the flashiest pitcher in the league, but he's gotten the job done for the Athletics so far this season, going at least five innings in all four of his starts to date and giving up no more than two runs in any outing. He has a 2.61 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 20.2 innings on the season, and despite Wednesday's lack of punchouts, he's usually good for a handful of Ks -- in his first three starts, he tallied 14 strikeouts across 15 frames.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Falls to San Diego

Bido (1-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Padres, allowing two runs on nine hits across five innings. He struck out five.

Bido did a good job of limiting the damage against a potent Padres offense. However, a pair of runs proved enough to stick the right-hander with his first loss in a 2-1 defeat. The 29-year-old Bido now has a 3.00 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through his first three starts (15 innings) this season. He's currently in line to face the White Sox in his next outing.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Five strikeouts in no-decision

Bido didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-3 win over the Rockies, allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters in five innings.

Unfortunately for Bido, the Athletics' offense woke up too late for the 29-year-old to collect his second win in as many starts. However, he did a nice job to make sure only a couple of runners came around to score despite allowing quite a bit of traffic on the basepaths. He'll carry a 2.70 ERA and 1.50 WHIP into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Padres.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Nabs win in season debut

Bido (1-0) earned the victory in Saturday's start against Seattle, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five-plus innings.

Bido wasn't particularly sharp in the outing, as he issued four free passes, hit two batters and threw just 45 of 81 pitches for strikes. However, he limited the Mariners to just one earned run (due in part to inducing two double plays) and emerged with the win. Bido posted a 3.7 BB/9 in each of his first two big-league seasons, so control hasn't been his strong point. However, he's locked into a spot in Oakland's rotation and has some fantasy upside after posting a 3.41 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 in his first season with the Athletics last year.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Wins spot in rotation

Bido has won a spot in the Athletics' rotation, manager Mark Kotsay told Martin Gallegos of MLB.com on Wednesday.

Bido entered camp with seemingly a lock on a rotation spot but has struggled with a 9.24 ERA this spring with five home runs allowed in 10.2 innings. That left a little uncertainty for his spot in the rotation until this announcement. Bido made a strong impression with a 3.41 ERA and 24.3 percent strikeout rate last season. He could be a late bloomer at age 29.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Improves in fourth spring start

Bido gave up two runs over five innings with four strikeouts and no walks in Wednesday's spring loss to Arizona. Despite a 9.24 ERA this spring, he still looks set to win the A's fourth starter job, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Bido made a strong impression with a 3.41 ERA and 24.3 percent strikeout rate last season, and A's management entered spring training pretty convinced he'd be part of the rotation. His improvement in Wednesday's start should help alleviate any concerns following the early spring struggles.

  • Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Allows four home runs

Bido gave up eight earned runs over 3.1 innings and allowed four home runs in Friday's spring training loss to Cleveland.

Bido entered spring training with a lead on a rotation spot, but he's struggled by allowing 11 earned runs in 7.2 innings with an 11:5 K:BB. He still has time to win the No. 4 or No. 5 starter role, however.
