Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homers in win
Rooker went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the White Sox.
Rooker put the finishing touches on a convincing A's victory, launching a 415-foot homer off Bryse Wilson in the ninth inning for his fifth long ball this season. It's the first homer in 10 games for Rooker, who'd gone 7-for-37 (.189) in his previous nine contests. He's now slashing .232/.276/.451 with 10 RBI and 12 runs scored through 87 plate appearances this year. Thursday's contest was also Rooker's third this season playing in the outfield, as the A's consider ways to make room in the lineup for top prospect Nick Kurtz.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Plays second game in OF
Rooker went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in Tuesday's victory over the White Sox. He started in left field. It was the second game he's played in the outfield this season.
Rooker is off to a slow start to the season by hitting .205/.256/.667 but does have four home runs, so he may be heating up at the plate. Rooker didn't play in the outfield last season after May due to a right forearm injury that required surgery in the offseason. He's mostly played DH this season but could soon qualify in the outfield again after playing just 14 games in the field last season. However, Rooker's usage in the outfield could be bigger news for Nick Kurtz, the top prospect tearing it up at Triple-A, as moving Rooker to the outfield could allow the A's to call up Kurtz to play at DH and 1B.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Belts two-run shot
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Cubs.
Rooker drove in both of the Athletics' runs Wednesday when he took Jameson Taillon deep to left field for his second two-run homer in as many games. After going 0-for-4 against the Mariners on Opening Day, Rooker has gone 8-for-26 with five runs scored, three home runs and six RBI in his last six games.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Hits first homer of season
Rooker went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's win over Seattle. He's started the first two games of the season at DH.
Rooker didn't play in the outfield last season after May due to a right forearm injury that required surgery in the offseason. He played outfield in spring training and is fully healthy, but the expectation is that he will mostly play DH. His arm injury didn't inhibit him at the plate as he had a career-best 39 home runs, 112 RBI, 82 runs scored and 11 stolen bases while posting a .927 OPS last year.
