Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Back discomfort lingering
Lee is out of the Cactus League lineup Sunday and is expected to be unavailable a few more days since he's still experiencing back discomfort, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The back issue surfaced Saturday after Lee apparently slept wrong, and he'll need a few days to get back to full strength. It's not believed to be a serious issue, so the 26-year-old could still be ready to go for Opening Day on March 27.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Scratched Saturday
Lee was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's Cactus League game versus Seattle due to back soreness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The Giants are labeling Lee's injury as minor, and although he won't play Saturday, there's a chance he'll return to the starting nine Sunday. Until then, Grant McCray will start in center field and bat ninth.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Bats third in spring debut
Lee went 1-for-3 in San Francisco's spring training opener Saturday.
Lee served as the Giants' leadoff hitter in 2024 prior to suffering a season-ending labrum tear in his left shoulder in May, but manager Bob Melvin said prior to spring training that the 26-year-old could be moved to the three hole for 2025, per Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. Lee operated out of that spot Saturday while LaMonte Wade shifted to the top of the batting order, and Melvin will likely tinker with the lineup throughout camp. Lee appeared in 37 games in 2024 prior to his injury and slashed .262/.310/.331 with two stolen bases, two home runs and eight RBI across 158 plate appearances.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Could bat third this season
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Thursday that Lee might bat third this season, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Lee was the Giants' primary leadoff hitter when healthy last season but did slide down to the three hole on five occasions when the opposition had a lefty on the mound. It sounds like he could shift down to the three hole on a more regular basis in 2025, with LaMonte Wade moving up to the top of the batting order. Such an arrangement would ding Lee's runs outlook a bit but boost his RBI potential.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Full participant to begin camp
Giants manager Bob Melvin confirmed Wednesday that Lee (shoulder) will be a full participant to begin spring training, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Melvin previously said in December that he didn't expect Lee to face any restrictions during camp, and that prediction has come to pass with the outfielder experiencing no complications over the winter while completing his recovery from the labrum surgery he underwent in June. Before getting hurt last season, Lee led off in his 31 of his 36 starts, and he projects to serve as the Giants' primary table setter to begin the 2025 campaign if he makes it through the spring unscathed.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: No restrictions in spring training
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Monday that Lee (shoulder) will have no restrictions at the start of spring training, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Lee is right at the end of a six-month timetable that was provided following surgery in June to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. It's not clear what kind of workouts Lee is able to do currently, but it would appear there are no concerns about his readiness for the beginning of camp and Opening Day. The 26-year-old slashed .262/.310/.331 with two home runs and two stolen bases in his first 37 games for the Giants before going under the knife. He's projected to be the Giants' center fielder and likely leadoff man next season.

The rehab for Lee is expected to take six months, so he should be ready for the start of spring training, barring any complications. Lee's first season with the Giants ended after just 145 plate appearances, with the center fielder finishing with a .262/.310/.331 line and two home runs.
