  • White Sox's Mason Adams: Dealing with flexor strain

Adams was diagnosed with a flexor strain in his right elbow Sunday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old is without an official return timeline but is likely to be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Adams received a promotion to Triple-A Charlotte late last season and had a 4.95 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB across 20 innings.

  • White Sox's Josh Rojas: Exits game with big toe injury

Rojas left in the fourth inning of Saturday's spring game against Colorado due to soreness in his right big toe.

Rojas went 0-for-2 before being replaced by Jordan Sprinkle at third base. An update on Rojas' injury should be made once he undergoes further testing. Rojas had gone 10-for-30 with two walks, two RBI and six runs scored in spring training heading into Saturday's game.

  • White Sox's Mason Adams: Dealing with right elbow injury

Adams left Friday's spring game against the Reds due to right elbow discomfort.

Adams left in the second inning of Friday's game after being visited on the mound by a trainer. The 25-year-old right-hander will undergo further testing Saturday, at which point the White Sox will have a better idea of the severity of the injury and will possibly be able to map a rehab schedule.

  • White Sox's Mason Adams: Leaves appearance with injury

Adam was lifted from Friday's spring outing versus the Reds with an apparent injury, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Adams was visited by the trainer after issuing a walk with one out in the second inning and eventually walked off the field. The White Sox should have an update on the right-hander's condition shortly.

  • White Sox's Mike Clevinger: Poised for ninth-inning role

Manager Will Venable said Friday that Clevinger will be "near the top" of the White Sox's options for the ninth inning, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Venable indicated he may utilize multiple pitchers in the closer role, but naming Clevinger specifically could make him the early favorite for saves in Chicago. The veteran right-hander has recorded three strikeouts while not allowing a baserunner in his two spring appearances. Clevinger is set to work as a full-time reliever for the first time in his career after making just four starts for the White Sox last season while contending with neck and elbow injuries.

  • White Sox's Sean Burke: Secures rotation spot

Manager Will Venable announced Friday that Burke will be in the White Sox's season-opening rotation, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander made his MLB debut down the stretch last season and allowed just three earned runs with a 22:7 K:BB across 19 innings, and he'll retain that rotation spot for the start of 2025. Burke is one of the organization's top prospects, though his performance at Triple-A Charlotte last year was underwhelming, as he finished with a 4.62 ERA in 16 starts.

  • White Sox's Jared Shuster: Sent to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Shuster to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Shuster hasn't fared well this spring, getting touched up for nine runs on 15 hits and one walk over seven frames. The left-hander was used mostly as a reliever with the White Sox last season but could be stretched back out as a starter in Charlotte.

  • White Sox's Jacob Amaya: Good to go Friday

Amaya (hip) is starting at shortstop and batting ninth in Friday's spring game against the Reds.

Amaya suffered a hip injury early this week but is ready to retake the field Friday after getting a few days to rest up. The 26-year-old has gone 2-for-16 with eight strikeouts through nine games in spring training, as it appears he's fallen behind Chase Meidroth in the battle for the White Sox's starting shortstop job.

  • White Sox's Blake Larson: On mend from Tommy John surgery

Larson had Tommy John surgery in January, MLB Pipeline reports.

Larson, the No. 68 overall pick in last year's draft, added 17 pounds of muscle by the end of fall instructs and was set to make his official pro debut this year before injuring his elbow during a January minicamp. His fastball and slider each have plus potential and Larson could continue to throw harder as he fills out his 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame, assuming he makes a full recovery. Given the timing of the surgery, Larson could be ready to pitch early in the 2026 season.

  • White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Little pop in spring

Vaughn has only one extra-base hit across 26 at-bats in Cactus League action.

Vaughn has seven hits this spring, leading to a decent .269 average. The lack of pop could be a concern, though he's been very consistent across his four big-league seasons by posting ISOs between .156 and .171 in each campaign. Vaughn doesn't appear to have much upside heading into the 2025 season -- especially considering the state of the White Sox's lineup -- but he should be a near everyday player hitting in the middle of the order.

  • White Sox's Matt Thaiss: Hoping to hold off rookies

Thaiss is projected to be on the White Sox's Opening Day roster by Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

Thaiss joined the White Sox this offseason and has had a decent spring, collecting six hits across 19 at-bats while striking out only three times. While much of Chicago's roster lacks standout talent, catcher is the exception with the pair of Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero --both promising prospects -- knocking on the door of the majors. That could ultimately cost Thaiss playing time later in the season, but he appears to still have a decent shot to make the Opening Day roster.

  • White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Struggling with ChiSox

Tauchman has gone 3-for-23 with nine strikeouts in Cactus League action.

Tauchman is projected to be the White Sox's primary right fielder, but he's had a dismal spring. He was productive across the last two seasons for the Cubs with a .732 OPS, but given that he's 34 and on a rebuilding roster, he'll likely need to perform early in the regular season to maintain steady plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Takes swings in batting cage

White Sox manager Will Venable said that Benintendi (hand) took swings in the batting cage Thursday and "felt really good," Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Benintendi was cleared to hit after he had a scan on his fractured right hand earlier this week that returned good results. Venable didn't rule Benintendi out for Opening Day, and while it seems unlikely the outfielder will be ready by then, the skipper added of Benintendi that "we feel confident that he's in a good spot to progress." When healthy, Benintendi projects as Chicago's everyday left fielder.

  • White Sox's Edgar Quero: Not seeing any action this spring

Quero has yet to make a start for the White Sox this spring.

Quero came into camp seemingly with a shot to emerge with a spot on the Opening Day roster, but his lack of usage suggests that's not going to happen. The 21-year-old has appeared in eight Cactus League games off the bench this spring, going 4-for-14 with a 2:1 K:BB. Quero appears likely to open the season alongside fellow catching prospect Kyle Teel at Triple-A Charlotte, where the duo would split playing time.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Slugging this spring

Teel is 5-for-15 with two home runs and a 4:3 K:BB this spring.

Teel came into White Sox camp seemingly a long shot to make the team, and that probably remains the case given that he's made just two starts (and just one at catcher). However, he's undoubtedly made a good first impression after landing with Chicago this offseason in the trade that sent Garrett Crochet to the Red Sox. Fellow catching prospect Edgar Quero has not made a single start this spring. The White Sox seem likely to go with a Korey Lee/Matt Thaiss combo behind the plate to open the season, although non-roster invitee Omar Narvaez is also in the mix.

  • White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Hitting leadoff regularly of late

Meidroth has started at shortstop and batted leadoff in two straight Cactus League games for the White Sox and hit leadoff in all six of his exhibition starts in March.

Meidroth missed some time this month with a calf issue but has been getting a long look in the leadoff spot when on the field. The 23-year-old's on-base skills are his best asset, as he boasted a 71:105 K:BB and .437 on-base percentage at Triple-A Worcester with the Red Sox organization in 2024, making him a sensible fit for the leadoff spot. Meidroth also might be emerging as the favorite to start at shortstop for the White Sox, as Colson Montgomery is now in minor-league camp and Brooks Baldwin has been playing more second base and even center field.

  • White Sox's Brandon Drury: Impressing in camp

Drury has a chance to earn a roster spot with the White Sox to begin the regular season, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Drury had a poor 2024 season, but he had previously posted consecutive campaigns with at least an .800 OPS. He has hit well this spring by collecting nine hits across 30 at-bats, including one home run and five doubles. Drury is likely to be a bench bat even if he makes the roster, though he's an option to keep an eye on with so many unproven options in the White Sox's lineup.

  • White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Rejoins lineup Wednesday

Meidroth (calf) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Angels, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Meidroth will return to action for the first time since Saturday, when he exited early in a game against the Dodgers due to calf cramps. The brief absence shouldn't dramatically derail Meidroth's chances of making the White Sox's Opening Day roster, which may have improved after Chicago sent infield prospect Colson Montgomery to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Brooks Baldwin now looks to be Meidroth's primary competition for the starting shortstop gig, though the White Sox may prefer to deploy Baldwin as a utility man since he's also seen action at second base and in center field this spring.

  • White Sox's Travis Jankowski: Finds new opportunity

Jankowski signed Wednesday with the White Sox on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training.

After the Cubs reassigned him to minor-league camp Sunday, Jankowski presumably asked for his release from the organization and had that request granted, allowing him to quickly find work with the White Sox. Though he didn't come especially close to winning a reserve role on the Cubs' Opening Day roster, Jankowski should have better odds of breaking camp with a White Sox squad that could be down two outfielders in Andrew Benintendi (hand) and Austin Slater (oblique) when the season begins. As a member of the Rangers last season, Jankowski slashed .200/.266/.242 and contributed one home run and 11 stolen bases over 207 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Making case for role

Sosa has gone 8-for-22 with four walks and six strikeouts in Cactus League action.

Sosa entered spring training with a strong chance to make the Opening Day roster because he was out of minor-league options. His performance on the field has further helped his case, though it is worth noting that he has only two extra-base hits with no home runs. Sosa doesn't have a clear role in the lineup, but he closed the 2024 campaign with a 1.018 OPS across his final 21 games, giving him more potential than many of the White Sox's projected regulars.
