  • Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Undergoing MRI on knee

Rangers general manager Chris Young said Tuesday that Garcia will undergo an MRI on his injured left knee, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Young expressed hope that Garcia will be able to avoid surgery, but more clarity on the situation will be available after the exam results are in. Garcia injured the knee during the final weekend of the regular season while attempting to beat out an infield single.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Homers in win

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Lowe doubled and scored the game's first run in the fourth inning before ripping a two-run shot in the eighth. It was his second straight game with a double and a home run after producing just one extra-base hit in his previous 13 contests. Lowe wrapped up the 2024 season with a .265/.361/.401 slash line and 33 extra-base hits through 565 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Dustin Harris: Shines against Angels

Harris went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Harris' first career hit was a two-run double in the seventh inning. He then belted his first MLB homer in the ninth. It was Harris' second appearance for the Rangers, and before his late-September promotion, he'd posted a .749 OPS through 131 games for Triple-A Round Rock.

  • Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi: Tosses seven shutout innings

Eovaldi (12-8) allowed four hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over the Angels.

Eovaldi escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first inning but didn't face much danger otherwise. He had been tagged for 14 runs over 16.2 innings in his previous three outings before closing out his 2024 season with a terrific outing Sunday. It was the fourth time this season he threw at least seven innings without allowing a run. Eovaldi finishes the season with a 3.80 ERA and a 166:42 K:BB through 170.2 innings. He's finished each of the last five seasons with an ERA between 3.63 and 3.87.

  • Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Out with knee injury

Garcia (knee) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Angels.

Given that he left Saturday's game with a knee injury and the Rangers have nothing to play for, it's not surprising Garcia will sit out the finale. Dustin Harris gets the start at designated hitter, batting eighth.

  • Rangers' Kirby Yates: Secures save No. 33

Yates picked up the save over the Angels on Saturday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Yates took the mound with a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and retired the side on just nine pitches to secure his 33rd save of the campaign. The veteran reliever has been spectacular in the month of September, recording eight saves while allowing just one hit over 9.1 scoreless innings (10 appearances). He's also issued just one walk over his last four outings.

  • Rangers' Andrew Heaney: Allows season-high seven runs

Heaney did not factor into the decision in a win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits over four innings while striking out three.

Heaney struggled with his command from the jump, allowing multiple hits in three of his four innings of work, which led to the southpaw being tagged for a season-high seven runs on the night. It marked the first time in his last seven starts that he was unable to make it through five frames, while the 10 hits he surrendered also marked a season high. Heaney has given up at least three runs and at least one long ball in four consecutive outings to close out the season. He carries a 5.96 ERA in September to go along with a 26:4 K:BB.

Lowe went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, three RBI and two additional runs scored in Saturday's 9-8 win over the Angels.

Garcia left Saturday's game against the Angels due to a left knee injury, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

  • Rangers' Walter Pennington: Recalled by Texas

Texas recalled Pennington from the Arizona Complex League Rangers on Saturday.

Pennington takes the spot in the Rangers' bullpen vacated by right-hander Josh Sborz, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right shoulder fatigue. Pennington made his last appearance Sept. 21 against the Mariners, during which he allowed three runs on two hits while striking out two across two-thirds of an inning. Across 15 major-league outings with the Rangers this season (including one start), Pennington has a 3.12 ERA and 1.73 WHIP across 17.1 innings.

  • Rangers' Josh Sborz: Lands on IL with shoulder fatigue

The Rangers placed Sborz on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right shoulder fatigue.

This marks the fourth time this season that Sborz has been placed on the IL due to a right shoulder injury. His prior stint started in mid-August, and he was able to return to the big club Tuesday, but his 2024 season will end with just 17 appearances out of the bullpen for the Rangers. Sborz ends the year with a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 17:4 K:BB and eight holds over 16.1 innings of work.
