  • Christian Wood: Let go by LAL

The Lakers waived Wood (knee) on Tuesday, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.

The big man was waived in order to make room for veteran center Alex Len, who signed with the club on Tuesday. Wood didn't appear in a single game for the Lakers during the 2024-25 campaign while recovering from left knee surgery that he underwent in September. The 29-year-old could latch on with a club looking for depth in the frontcourt, though his health is a glaring issue that could seemingly hold him back.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Remains out Thursday

Wood (knee) is listed as out for Thursday's game against the Warriors.

Wood has yet to play this season while recovering from the left knee surgery he underwent in September. On Wednesday, head coach JJ Redick told Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com that he had no formal update on the status of Wood, who appears safe to rule out through the All-Star break. With the Lakers adding Mark Williams at the trade deadline to supplement a frontcourt mix that already includes Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaxson Hayes and Dorian Finney-Smith, Wood will likely find himself out of the rotation once he returns to full health.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Out again, return date uncertain

Wood (knee) will not play Tuesday against the 76ers, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.

Wood has yet to play this season, and the Lakers haven't provided many updates on his status lately. Head coach JJ Redick said Dec. 30 that Wood had been cleared to participate in individual work, but just over two weeks later, Redick told Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com that he had no updates on the status of Wood. The veteran big man might have suffered a setback, but in any case, he looks to be week-to-week more so than day-to-day.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Won't make season debut Monday

Wood (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Hornets, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Wood has yet to make his season debut while recovering from an offseason surgery on his left knee. There is no clear timetable for his return, though his next chance to debut will come Tuesday against Philadelphia.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Return not imminent

Lakers head coach JJ Redick said Monday that he had no update on the status of Wood, who has been sidelined all season while recovering from the left knee surgery he underwent in September, Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com reports.

Back on Dec. 30, Redick told Starkand that Wood was able to take part in some individual work following the Lakers' practice session, but the lack of a concrete update on the big man's status in the two weeks since then suggest that Wood has either plateaued in his recovery or suffered a setback. Whatever the case, Wood seems further from a return than fellow big man Jarred Vanderbilt (foot), whom Redick said Monday is "close" to playing, but won't be an option for any of the team's games this week, per Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet. Assuming Vanderbilt ends up beating him back to the court for his season debut, Wood may not be a serious candidate to enter the rotation even once he's made a full recovery from knee surgery.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Remains on the shelf

Wood (knee) won't play in Thursday's game against the Hornets, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.

Wood is still in recovery mode following offseason surgery on his left knee, and it remains unclear how far along he is in his rehab at this point. The veteran big man can be tentatively deemed doubtful for game action until the Lakers provide another update on Wood's health, so he would appear unlikely to return for Saturday's tilt with the Spurs. Jaxson Hayes remains Los Angeles' top backup at center behind Anthony Davis going forward.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Ruled out Friday

Wood (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Hawks.

Wood's season debut won't happen Friday against the visiting Hawks. The veteran big man continues to work his way back from knee surgery, and in the meantime, the Lakers will continue to lean on Cam Reddish, Dorian Finney-Smith and Rui Hachimura behind LeBron James in the frontcourt.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Won't make season debut Thursday

Wood (knee) is listed as out for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.

Wood is working his way back from arthroscopic left knee surgery that he underwent in early September, but he's still not ramped up enough to return to game action. Until the Lakers provide another update on his status, the veteran big man should be viewed as doubtful to suit up without a clear timetable for his return. That will likely be the case for Friday's game against the Hawks.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Resuming on-court workouts

Lakers head coach JJ Redick said Tuesday that Wood (knee) has been cleared to resume on-court workouts, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.

After getting re-evaluated at some point last week, Wood received the green light to start ramping back up again, but his season debut doesn't look to be imminent just yet. Wood will spend the next few days working out with staff members in Los Angeles while the Lakers play in Sacramento on Thursday and Saturday, and he could then become integrated in practices once the team returns home. The journeyman center is working his way back from arthroscopic left knee surgery, which he underwent in early September.

  • Lakers' Christian Wood: Out at least four more weeks

Lakers head coach JJ Redick said Tuesday that Wood (knee) has experienced soreness in his surgically repaired left knee and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Wood was nearing his re-evaluation date following an arthroscopic procedure in early September, but the big man isn't close to returning to game action. Even when healthy, Wood will have an uphill battle for playing time in the Lakers' crowded frontcourt, but he brings a unique skill set to the table.
