Bulls' Lonzo Ball: Listed as questionable
Ball (injury management) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Hawks.
This is a big surprise, as there's been no report of Ball being cleared for back-to-back sets -- he played 25 minutes Tuesday against the Pelicans and finished with 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt), eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block. Coby White (neck) and Ayo Dosunmu (calf) are also questionable for the Bulls, making this a situation to monitor closely ahead of tipoff.

Bulls' Lonzo Ball: Slated to rest after big game
Ball will be held out of Wednesday's game against the Hawks for left knee injury management purposes after playing 25 minutes in Tuesday's 119-113 loss to the Pelicans, Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ball has experienced no setbacks this season in his return from the left knee injury that required three separate operations and cost him the entire 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, but he's still likely to be held out of one half of back-to-back sets throughout the campaign. The Bulls are slowly loosening the reins on Ball's playing-time restriction, however; he's played 20-plus minutes in seven of the past eight contests, including at least 24 minutes in both of the past two contests. Though he was back on the bench Tuesday with Coby White (neck) returning from a one-game absence, Ball produced a fantasy-friendly line with 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt), eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block. If he continues to hold steady at around 25 minutes in his future appearances, Ball will be worthy of a flier in most 12-team leagues where he's available on the waiver wire.

Bulls' Lonzo Ball: Will play first of back-to-back
Ball will play Tuesday against New Orleans but will sit out of Wednesday's matchup with Atlanta, Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ball is still a ways away from playing in both games of back-to-backs, but he is getting closer. Ball missed 15 games due to a wrist injury this season and is still in the process of returning from a knee injury he suffered a couple of seasons ago, but he tied his season high in minutes (26) and made a season-high five threes in Sunday's game against Sacramento, showing encouraging signs of approaching full recovery.

Ball got the starting nod Sunday in place of Coby White (neck), making his first start since the 2021-22 season. Ball put together his best outing of the season, connecting on a team-high-tying number of threes while finishing as one of three players with 15 or more points in a losing effort. Ball also set a new season high in scoring, and he's now surpassed the double-digit scoring mark in three contests this year. He also set a season high in made threes, having connected on three or more shots from deep on four occasions.

With Coby White (neck) sidelined, Ball will make his first start since the 2021-22 campaign. Ball has yet to play more than 26 minutes in a game this season while the Bulls operate with immense caution given his injury history, so even though he's starting, he's unlikely to play more than 30 minutes. Over his last seven appearances, Ball has averaged 6.9 points, 3.9 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 22.4 minutes per game.

Bulls' Lonzo Ball: Encouraging performance Saturday
Ball logged eight points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, six assists and two steals in 25 minutes during Saturday's 139-126 win over the Knicks.
Ball continues to look better with each performance, having now played at least 23 minutes in three straight games. Although the offense has yet to fully come around, Ball has been able to demonstrate his versatility on both ends of the court, averaging 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.0 three-pointers over the past week. Although his upside could very well be capped should he remain on somewhat of a minutes restriction, the fact he is on the court and playing meaningful minutes has to be seen as a huge positive given his injury history.

Ball chipped in five points (2-7 FG, 1-6 3Pt), eight rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals in 22 minutes during Wednesday's 125-107 loss to the Wizards.
Ball didn't have a good shooting performance and only mustered four points, but fantasy managers know they can't expect him to carry Chicago offensively, especially if he's coming off the bench. Instead, he managed to deliver a solid showing as a stat-stuffing machine, and he notched at least one tally in each of the five major categories. He's achieved that feat in four of his last nine appearances, so even when considering his bench role, he has a bit more upside in category-based leagues.

Ball chipped in four points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT), three rebounds, five assists and three steals in 26 minutes during Monday's 115-108 overtime victory over the Hornets.
Ball played at least 20 minutes for the third time this season, closing the game in what was a season-high 26 minutes. Although his production was a little underwhelming, especially on the offensive end, the fact he played significant minutes and ran with the closing lineup bodes well for his immediate future. The Bulls now have a night off before facing the Wizards on Wednesday.
