The incident occurred with 9:02 remaining in the third quarter, when Nurkic was charged with an offensive foul before engaging in a dispute with Marshall. Nurkic was deemed to have escalated the altercation by swinging his arm and striking the head of Marshall, who threw a punch that connected with Nurkic's face. After all of Marshall, Nurkic and P.J. Washington were ejected from the contest, Marshall attempted to further engage with Nurkic in the corridor outside the locker room, which likely explains why he received a four-game suspension compared to Nurkic's three-game ban.
