Top Coby White News

  • Bulls' Coby White: Logs full practice Friday

White (calf) practiced in full Friday, Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic reports.

This is a great sign for the Bulls, as this was his first full practice of the season. This was considered a lighter session, so coach Billy Donovan said he'll see how the guard responds to more contact Saturday. For now, a return Nov. 16 against the Jazz appears to be on the table.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Recalled to NBA

Chicago recalled White (calf) from the G League's Windy City Bulls on Monday.

White was sent to Windy City on a rehab assignment to get some extra reps. He remains on track for a return at some point during Chicago's road trip, which starts Wednesday in Detroit and finishes the following Wednesday in Portland.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Assigned to G League

The Bulls assigned White to the G League's Windy City Bulls on Monday, Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune reports.

This is simply the next step in White's injury rehab. The Bulls are hoping White can play at some point during their next road trip, and a return next week could certainly be on the table if he continues to progress.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Return not yet imminent

The Bulls hope White (calf) will be able to make his season debut in a couple of weeks, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.

It sounds like White's rehab with a right calf strain will continue through the first half of November. That said, the guard should have a chance to be cleared for action at some point later this month. While White is ramping up, Tre Jones remains close to a must-roster fantasy player in most leagues.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Remaining out vs. Philadelphia

White (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the 76ers.

White has yet to suit up this season due to a right calf strain he sustained in August. With the 25-year-old guard sidelined, Tre Jones and Kevin Huerter will likely continue seeing increased minutes. White can be considered doubtful for Friday's game against the Bucks until the Bulls provide another update on his status. Coach Billy Donovan said last week that White is "completely pain-free" and will be re-evaluated sometime this week.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Running and shooting pain-free

White (calf) is "completely pain-free" and has been running and getting shots up at practice.

"Just talking to the medical, here's the problem: Like [White] doesn't have any pain at all with what he's doing," Bulls coach Billy Donovan said Monday. "He's on the court shooting, he's able to jog, but what ended up happening and what became a problem when we were playing competitively in practice were those stops, starts, quick explosiveness that maybe he's not doing a lot of that in individual workout." Donovan added that they want to be extra cautious bringing him back to avoid any setbacks, so while he'll be re-evaluated sometime within the next week, it doesn't sound like he's particularly close to getting back to the court.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Re-evaluated in two weeks

The Bulls announced Monday that White (calf) will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

This is a tough blow for the Bulls, as previous reports had indicated that White would be available for Opening Night. White has resumed on-court basketball activities and continues to make progress in his ramp up phase for a right calf strain, but it sounds like the Bulls are going to proceed with caution. Based on this timetable, White will be re-evaluated Nov. 3, but there's no guarantee he returns right after that. For now, White can be safely ruled out for the first six games of the regular season. In his absence, the Bulls could turn to Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu, with Josh Giddey picking up more usage as well.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Expected to play Opening Night

White (calf) is expected to play Opening Night against the Pistons on Oct. 22, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

White, who missed the entire preseason with a calf strain, will practice in full Saturday. Over the next few days, the Bulls will ramp him up with some contact work as the final stage of his rehab. Assuming there are no setbacks, White will have the green light for Opening Night.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Not expected to play in preseason

Bulls coach Billy Donovan said that while he expects Coby White (calf) to be ready by Opening Night, he doesn't anticipate him suiting up during the preseason, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

White is in the final stages of recovery from a calf strain, and while he reportedly feels pretty good, there's just not enough "ramp-up time" to get him on the court for one of Chicago's final two exhibition games. It sounds like White will be good to go for Opening Night, but don't be surprised if he's eased into things after not getting any preseason reps.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Targeting final preseason game

The Bulls are hoping to have White (calf) available for their final preseason game Oct. 16 against the Timberwolves, Chuck Swirsky of the Bulls Radio Network reports.

White is working his way back from a calf strain that he suffered in August. He hasn't been cleared to return to practice yet, and this report means he'll miss at least four of Chicago's five exhibitions. However, he has a chance to play prior to Opening Night, which bodes well for his availability to begin the regular season.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Misses practice Monday

White (calf) remained sidelined for Monday's practice, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

White is working his way back from a calf strain that he suffered in August. It remains to be seen if his absence will extend into the regular season, but the Bulls are likely to tread carefully. White is coming off a breakout 2024-25 campaign in which he posted regular-season averages of 20.4 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds.

  • Bulls' Coby White: Limited with calf injury

Bulls executive vice president Arturas Karnisovas said Monday that White (calf) will be limited in training camp, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

White is working his way back from a calf strain suffered in August, with the Bulls taking a cautious approach to his ramp-up. Arturas Karnisovas suggested the team hopes to have him available by the end of the preseason but stopped short of guaranteeing it. The guard is set for a primary role in Chicago after continuing his scoring ascent last year, averaging a career-high 20.4 points along with 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds on 45.3 percent shooting and 37.0 percent from deep across 74 regular-season games.
