  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Out for season with torn labrum

Johnson was diagnosed Wednesday with a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will miss the rest of the season, league sources tell NBA reporter Chris Haynes. After breaking out in his first season as a full-time starter in 2023-24, Johnson had taken another step forward in 2024-25, averaging 18.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.2 three-pointers and 1.0 blocks in 35.7 minutes per game while shooting 50 percent from the field over his 36 appearances. However, the fourth-year forward had missed five straight games earlier this month with right shoulder inflammation before returning to action Jan. 18, only to be shut down again after suffering a more significant injury to his other shoulder during a Jan. 23 loss to the Raptors. With surgery likely on the docket for Johnson, the Hawks will need several other players to step up in his absence. De'Andre Hunter, Vit Krejci, Zaccharie Risacher and Bogdan Bogdanovic could all take on heightened roles over the final few months of the season. Johnson should be fully recovered from the shoulder injury in advance of training camp next fall.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Out indefinitely

The Hawks announced Saturday that Johnson will be listed as out indefinitely while he undergoes further medical testing and evaluation on the left shoulder injury he sustained in Thursday's 122-119 loss to the Raptors. The team added that an update on Johnson's injury and status will be updated as appropriate, which likely implies that Atlanta may still be waiting on an MRI on the forward's shoulder. Johnson previously missed five straight games earlier this month with right shoulder inflammation, and the injury to his other shoulder will keep him out for Saturday's rematch with the Raptors, and most likely for the team's upcoming four-game week. Once healthy, De'Andre Hunter (illness) and Zaccharie Risacher (thigh) could serve as the Hawks' primary options at power forward sans Johnson, while Vit Krejci, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Garrison Mathews could see added playing time on the wing.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Hurts left shoulder Thursday

Johnson (shoulder) won't return to Thursday's game against Toronto, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports. He'll finish the game with three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 11 minutes. Johnson had missed five straight games earlier this month due to right shoulder inflammation, but it was an injury to his other shoulder that forced him out of Thursday's contest early in the second quarter. The 23-year-old immediately headed to the locker room after hurting the shoulder on a block attempt, with Atlanta ruling him out for the game shortly thereafter. The Hawks could be forced to rely more heavily on De'Andre Hunter, Vit Krejci and Bogdan Bogdanovic if Johnson is forced to miss further games along with rookie Zaccharie Risacher (adductor), who is likely at least a few more days away from returning to action.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Double-double in loss

Johnson logged 11 points (4-12 FG, 3-3 FT), 12 rebounds, four assists and a block in 35 minutes during Monday's 119-110 loss to the Knicks. The fourth-year forward logged his second straight double-double in two games back from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for over two weeks. Although his efficiency in both games has been less than desirable, it's certainly possible that Johnson's just shaking off the rust, especially as he was shooting over 50 percent from the field prior to going down at the beginning of the month. His next outing comes Wednesday against the Pistons.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Gets green light

Johnson (shoulder) will play Monday against the Knicks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Likely to play Monday

Johnson is probable for Monday's game against the Knicks due to right shoulder inflammation, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Johnson has been dealing with a shoulder problem for quite some time, but the probable tag suggests he's going to play through it and should handle his regular workload. He tallied 14 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-7 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block across 38 minutes Saturday in the Hawks' 119-115 overtime win over the Celtics.

  • Hawks' Jalen Johnson: Takes on big minutes in return

Johnson (shoulder) tallied 14 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-7 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block across 38 minutes Saturday in the Hawks' 119-115 overtime win over the Celtics. Johnson had been held out of the Hawks' previous five games with an inflamed right shoulder, but he didn't seem to be operating under any restrictions in his return to action. He exceeded his season-long average of 36.4 minutes per game, and though he filled out the stat sheet nicely, poor efficiency from the field and free-throw line took a bigger night off the table. Fantasy managers can feel comfortable plugging Johnson back into their lineups ahead of the Hawks' four-game week, which begins with a matchup with the Knicks on Monday.
