Top Nuggets News

  • Nuggets' Christian Braun: Big double-double in win

Braun contributed 21 points (7-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-7 FT), 10 rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals over 45 minutes during Wednesday's 132-121 victory over the Trail Blazers.

The double-double was the third of the season for Braun, with all three coming since Jan. 19. Over 14 games during that stretch, the third-year wing has scored 20 or more points eight times, averaging 19.0 points, 6.6 boards, 3.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 threes while shooting an eye-popping 60.4 percent from the floor. Braun has started seven straight games while Russell Westbrook (hamstring) has been on the shelf, and he's played well enough to stay in the starting five even after the team gets healthier.

  • Nuggets' Nikola Jokic: Triple-double against Blazers

Jokic provided 26 points (11-20 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 15 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 132-121 victory over Portland.

It was the 25th triple-double of the season for Jokic, and he remains firmly on pace to break his career-high mark of 29, set over 58 appearances in the 2022-23 season. Jokic has scored more than 25 points in eight straight games, an impressive run even by his lofty standards, and he's averaged 30.1 points, 11.1 assists, 10.9 boards, 1.9 steals and 1.9 threes during that span while shooting 63.4 percent from the floor.

  • Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Erupts for career-high 55 in win

Murray had 55 points (20-36 FG, 7-15 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds, five assists and two steals over 42 minutes during Wednesday's 132-121 victory over the Trail Blazers.

Only Hall of Famer David Thompson (who poured in 73 points back in April 1978) and Nikola Jokic (with a 56-point performance Dec. 7 against the Wizards) have had better scoring efforts than Murray's career-best night since the Nuggets joined the NBA. The seven threes were also a season high for the 27-year-old guard, and his fireworks came with Russell Westbrook (hamstring), Aaron Gordon (calf) and Michael Porter (hamstring) all unavailable, putting even more of the offensive load on Jokic and Murray than usual. Through six appearances in February, Murray is averaging 25.3 points, 6.2 assists, 2.8 boards, 2.7 threes and 1.3 steals while shooting 54.1 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from long distance.

  • Nuggets' Zeke Nnaji: With first unit Wednesday

Nnaji is part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Nnaji will fill in for the injured Aaron Gordon (calf) on Wednesday, marking the 23-year-old's second start of the campaign. In his only other start, Nnaji played 31 minutes, totaling 12 points, five rebounds and a block.

  • Nuggets' Michael Porter: Ruled out against Portland

Porter (hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Porter won't return to the floor for the Nuggets until after the NBA All-Star break, as Denver elected to give him more time to rest his ailing left hamstring. Due to Porter's absence Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, Julian Strawther could see a considerable bump in minutes.

  • Nuggets' Aaron Gordon: Ruled out against Portland

Gordon (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Gordon has been nursing a right calf injury and won't play Wednesday against Portland. The Nuggets likely decided it makes more sense to give the veteran big man more rest, as his next chance to play will be on Feb. 20 against the Hornets in Denver after the upcoming NBA All-Star break. Julian Strawther and Zeke Nnaji could see more time on the floor against the Trail Blazers.

  • Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Will play vs. Portland

Murray (knee) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Murray has been dealing with a knee issue, but that won't stop him from getting on the floor Wednesday for Denver against Portland. The veteran guard is coming off two solid performances, as he neared a double-double with 17 points and eight assists against the Trail Blazers on Monday and posted a 30-point performance in the win over the Suns last Saturday.

  • Nuggets' Russell Westbrook: May return after All-Star break

Westbrook (hamstring) could return to the floor for the Nuggets after the NBA All-Star break, per head coach Michael Malone, Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette reports.

Westbrook has missed six straight games for Denver due to a left hamstring strain. Denver has missed his impact in the backcourt, and once officially cleared to return, Westbrook will be a welcome addition to the rotation.

  • Nuggets' Aaron Gordon: Downgraded to questionable

Gordon (calf) has been downgraded to questionable for Wednesday's game against Portland.

Gordon was initially deemed probable for this contest, so this is a troubling sign for his availability. Gordon hasn't been 100 percent, so the Nuggets could choose to exercise caution with this being the final game before the All-Star break. If Gordon is held out, guys like Julian Strawther and Zeke Nnaji could benefit.

  • Nuggets' Michael Porter: Questionable for Wednesday

Porter (hamstring) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Portland.

Porter is in danger of missing a third straight game due to a strained left hamstring. Given that Wednesday's tilt is Denver's final game prior to the All-Star break, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team exercise caution with the veteran sharpshooter. From a fantasy perspective, Julian Strawther has been the primary beneficiary of Porter's absence.

  • Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Probable against Portland

Murray (knee) has been listed as probable to play in Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Murray will likely be on the floor for the Nuggets during Wednesday's matchup in Portland. The veteran guard has scored 20 or more points in five of the last seven games, helping pick up the slack with Russell Westbrook (hamstring) still on the mend.

  • Nuggets' Aaron Gordon: Expected to play against Portland

Gordon (calf) is probable for Wednesday's game against Portland.

The Nuggets continue to monitor Gordon's right calf, but the veteran forward is expected to suit up Wednesday for the team's final game before the All-Star break. Across his last seven outings (all starts), Gordon has averaged 9.7 points, 5.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 threes in 27.8 minutes while shooting 40.0 percent from three-point range.

  • Nuggets' Zeke Nnaji: Productive off bench

Nnaji recorded 11 points (4-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Monday's 146-117 victory over Portland.

Nnaji was able to take advantage of some garbage time in the lopsided win, as he put up a season-high three assists in the process. He's been trending up in February, posting averages of 6.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.3 blocks in 20.5 minutes per contest over his last six outings.

  • Nuggets' Julian Strawther: Productive in win

Strawther posted 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and one steal over 35 minutes during Monday's 146-117 victory over the Trail Blazers.

Strawther has scored 18 points in consecutive games, and he's emerged as a viable streamer for the shorthanded Nuggets, who were without Michael Porter (hamstring) and Russell Westbrook (hamstring) on Monday. Over his last six outings, Strawther has averaged 11.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.7 three-pointers in 29.4 minutes per contest.

  • Nuggets' Nikola Jokic: Erupts for 40 points

Jokic recorded 40 points (15-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 8-8 FT), seven rebounds, eight assists, one block and three steals over 31 minutes during Monday's 146-117 win over Portland.

Jokic produced his seventh game of the campaign with at least 40 points in this blowout win. Denver is in the midst of a seven-game unbeaten run and Jokic has been the top nine-category fantasy producer in that stretch with 30.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 11.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 2.1 three-pointers.
