Steelers' Tyler Matakevich: Lands on IR with hamstring injury
The Steelers placed Matakevich on the reserve/injured list Tuesday due to a hamstring injury, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Matakevich sustained the hamstring injury during the second half of Pittsburgh's 13-6 win over the Broncos. He finished the game with one solo tackle while playing 19 snaps on special teams. The 2016 seventh-round pick will miss at least four games and is eligible to return in Week 7 against the Jets on Oct. 20. The Steelers will look to fill Matakevich's role on special teams.

The Steelers signed Matakevich to a one-year contract Wednesday.
Matakevich, a 2016 seventh-round pick, spent the first four years of his career in Pittsburgh before playing out the last four seasons in Buffalo. Matakevich has been sidelined since camp opened, but now he'll get a chance to compete for a roster spot as Week 1 draws closer. The 30-year-old has been a special-teams ace for the Bills in each of the last three seasons, seeing limited spot duty on defense. He'll work to earn a similar role again this season after re-signing with Buffalo in March.

Matakevich (undisclosed) was placed on the active/PUP list Tuesday, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
Matakevich will open training camp on the sidelines, but he'll be eligible to return to practice and play at any point this preseason, which starts Aug. 12 versus the Colts. The linebacker operated almost exclusively on special teams in 2022, recording six tackles while playing only two of his 324 snaps on defense.

Bills' Tyler Matakevich: New deal with Buffalo
Matakevich and the Bills agreed to a two-year contract Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Matakevich will stay in Buffalo, returning to the team for a fourth straight year in 2023. The linebacker is a leader on the Bills' special teams units, playing only two defensive snaps last season in comparison to 322 on special teams. Matakevich recorded a career-low six tackles in 2022, something he'll look to improve next year.
