  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Does little in backup role

Wright rushed twice for seven yards during Sunday's 32-26 overtime win over the Jets. He also secured two of three targets for six yards. Wright handled the No. 2 backfield role for Miami with Raheem Mostert (hip) inactive Week 14, and he saw a few extra snaps in the red zone during the first quarter with De'Von Achane briefly being checked for an injury on the sideline. New York's defense effectively contained the Dolphins' running game, as while Achane was successful through the air (six catches for 45 yards), he piled up just 24 yards and one score on 14 carries. Wright, however, wasn't exactly impressive enough to push for increased opportunities, and Mostert may be back in action Week 15 on the road at Houston.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Invisible in Thursday's loss

Wright did not log a single carry or target during Thursday's 30-17 loss to the Packers. Wright had, in recent weeks, appeared to usurp the No. 2 backfield role from Raheem Mostert, but the Dolphins opted to trust the veteran running back over the rookie fourth-round pick during Thursday's cold weather tilt. The No. 2 role could be up for grabs once again heading into a Week 14 home game against the Jets, but even if fantasy managers had clarity on whether Wright or Mostert would hold a monopoly on those reps, De'Von Achane remains the only reliable fantasy option in Miami's backfield.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Week 13 Waiver Priority List

Wright has emerged as the No. 2 running back for the Dolphins behind De'Von Achane, and Wright has at least five carries in four games in a row. He doesn't have much standalone value while Achane is healthy, but Wright could be a lottery ticket if Achane were to miss any time. Achane Fantasy managers should also handcuff Wright as insurance, and he's worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Handles No. 2 role in Week 12 win

Wright had seven carries for 28 yards during Sunday's 34-15 win over the Patriots. He failed to secure his only target. Wright seems to have secured the No. 2 role in Miami's backfield behind De'Von Achane, who rushed 10 times for 32 yards but scored twice through the air while securing three of four targets for 24 yards. Veteran Raheem Mostert, meanwhile, had just two carries for five yards. Wright has been impressive in limited opportunities, but Achane's extreme efficiency in scoring situations means the Dolphins' remaining backfield opportunities aren't especially high-value for fantasy purposes. Wright will look to continue building momentum Thursday versus the Packers.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Six touches in Week 11

Wright rushed five times for four yards and caught his lone target for two yards in Sunday's 34-19 win over the Raiders. Wright handled just five carries for the second-straight week, however, his one reception was his first of the season. The rookie running back has continued to disappoint on the ground. Since the Dolphins' Week 6 bye, Wright has recorded just 23 carries for 76 yards. Meanwhile, De'Von Achane has impressed in his starting role as Miami's most efficient back on the ground and in the passing game. Wright's limited opportunities make him very difficult to trust for fantasy purposes, and he likely would need injuries ahead of him on the running back depth chart to gain more relevance for fantasy. The Dolphins will host the Patriots in Week 12.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

Wright is worth stashing in all leagues as a potential lottery ticket behind De'Von Achane. It appears like Wright has moved ahead of Raheem Mostert on Miami's depth chart, and Wright has played more snaps than Mostert in the past two games against the Rams and Raiders. Wright only has 10 carries over that span for 7 yards, along with one catch for 2 yards on one target, but he could be a potential starting Fantasy option if Achane were to miss any time. Wright is worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

Wright may have moved past Raheem Mostert as the No. 2 running back in Miami behind De'Von Achane, and Wright is worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB. He could be a difference-maker for Fantasy managers if Achane were to miss any time. In Week 10 at the Rams, Wright had five carries for 3 yards and no catches, but Mostert didn't get a carry and finished with two catches for 34 yards on three targets. We'll see what happens heading into Week 11 against the Raiders, but Wright's role could be expanding, which is exciting. He's a good running back to stash on your bench.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Only two carries in Week 8 loss

Wright carried the ball twice for 18 yards during Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Cardinals. Wright continues to look explosive in limited opportunities, but it's De'Von Achane (10 carries) and Raheem Mostert (nine carries) who are entrenched as the leaders of Miami's backfield. Without one of Achane or Mostert missing time, or the Dolphins seeing a positive game script the likes of which has evaded the team this season, Wright's usage will remain limited.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Paces team in rushing

Wright rushed 13 times for 86 yards and and did not draw a target in the Dolphins' 15-10 win over the Patriots on Sunday. Wright ended up with the largest workload of his young career after De'Von Achane exited the game in the first half with a concussion. The rookie responded in fine fashion, recording a team-high rushing yardage total while averaging a stellar 6.6 yards per carry. Wright's explosiveness rivals that of Achane, but if the latter has cleared concussion protocol in time for a Week 7 road matchup against the Colts on Sunday, Oct. 20, Wright could be back to playing third fiddle behind Achane and Raheem Mostert.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Rushes nine times in MNF loss

Wright carried the ball nine times for 32 yards and failed to secure his only target during Miami's 31-12 loss to the Titans on Monday night. Wright handled an increased workload due to Raheem Mostert (chest) remaining sidelined and Jeff Wilson (quadriceps) picking up an injury in pre-game warmups Monday, which limited him to two offensive snaps. Still, neither Wright or De'Von Achane (10 carries for 15 yards) were able to get much going in what was another miserable showing for the Dolphins' offense. Miami will have an opportunity to bounce back against New England on Sunday, but if Mostert and/or Wilson are back in action, Wright will stand to see his workload decline.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Little usage in Week 3 loss

Wright rushed twice for 17 yards during Sunday's 24-3 loss to the Seahawks. Wright was productive with his two touches, but the rookie fourth-round pick had his opportunities stymied due to a poor overall offensive performance with Skylar Thompson (ribs) and Tim Boyle under center instead of Tua Tagovailoa (concussion). The Dolphins offense will work to get back on track versus the Titans on Monday Night Football in Week 4, though if Raheem Mostert (chest) is able to retake the field, he and De'Von Achane would dominate backfield opportunities.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Gets just five carries in NFL debut

Wright carried five times for four yards in the Dolphins' 31-10 loss to the Bills in Week 2. Wright played 18 of the Dolphins' 76 snaps on offense in the loss, but 10 of those snaps came in the fourth quarter, when the Bills already had the game well in hand. Though the absence of Raheem Mostert (chest) opened up an opportunity for Wright to suit up Thursday after he had been inactive for the Week 1 win over the Jaguars, the rookie fourth-round pick wasn't able to capture meaningful playing time while the Dolphins leaned heavily on De'Von Achane as their lead back and also sprinkled in Jeff Wilson (11 snaps). Mostert and Wilson (oblique) both opened the week as a limited participants in practice Wednesday, and it may take an absence from either of the two backs in order for Wright to suit up Sunday in Seattle.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Active versus Bills

Wright is active for Thursday night's game against the Bills, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Wright was a healthy scratch Week 1, but he'll enter Miami's backfield mix Thursday with Raheem Mostert (chest) inactive. Meanwhile, De'Von Achane (ankle), who had been listed as questionable, is active and figures to see his share of touches in the absence of any setbacks, with Jeff Wilson also a candidate to see increased work versus Buffalo. With that in mind, it remains to be seen how many touches Wright will handle in his NFL regular-season debut, but the speedy fourth-round rookie does possess intriguing playmaking upside in Miami's offense.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Likely to make NFL debut Thursday

Wright, who was a healthy inactive Week 1, seems likely to suit up for Thursday's matchup with the Bills due to Raheem Mostert (chest) being ruled out and De'Von Achane (ankle) being a game-time decision, Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network reports. Wright, a rookie fourth-round pick, boasts explosiveness but not experience over 28-year-old veteran Jeff Wilson, but both players will stand to see expanded opportunities Thursday with Mostert ruled out. Depending on Achane's status for Week 2, it could even fall to Wright and Wilson to handle the entirety of Miami's backfield workload, in which case the team might have no choice other than to ride the hot hand. Wright impressed in the preseason and boasts 4.38-second 40-yard dash speed, making him a big-play candidate even on limited touches.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

Jeff Wilson (1 percent rostered) might benefit the most if one or both of De'Von Achane (ankle) or Raheem Mostert (chest) are out for Thursday's game against Buffalo since he played in Week 1, while Wright was a healthy scratch. But I would hope that if the Dolphins need running back help we'll see Wright in an expanded role, and he has more upside than Wilson. I'd add Wright for 10-15 percent of your remaining FAB, and Wilson is worth adding for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB. Just stay tuned to Tuesday's injury report to see the practice status for Achane and Mostert heading into Thursday's game.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Won't suit up Week 1

Wright (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Though the Dolphins invested a fourth-round pick into him during April's draft and he impressed out of the backfield in Miami's preseason finale, Wright will have to wait at least another week to make his NFL debut. With starter Raheem Mostert and change-of-pace dynamo De'Von Achane both entering the season healthy, the Dolphins won't have much of a role on offense available for Wright. The Tennessee product also didn't lock down a special-teams role coming out of the preseason, so Jeff Wilson will dress ahead of Wright as the Dolphins' No. 3 back.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Held out due to injury

Wright was held out of Saturday's preseason contest against the Commanders due to an unspecified injury, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. It's not clear what injury Wright picked up during practice this week, but head coach Mike McDaniel didn't seem concerned about the severity. It seems likely the rookie running back will return to practice in short order and build upon what was an excellent preseason opener, one in which the 2024 third-round pick ran for 55 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Not in uniform

Wright isn't in uniform ahead of Saturday's preseason game against Washington, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Wright took 10 carries for 55 yards and a TD in Miami's preseason-opening win over the Falcons last Friday, breaking off a couple runs that allowed him to flash his impressive speed. With no injury reported, the Dolphins may just be holding the rookie out to get other players more snaps.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Putting forth strong training camp

Dolphins running backs coach Eric Studesville said Thursday that Wright has been "highly motivated to be really good" at training camp and is "working and positioning himself to do all those things," Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports. Studesville said Wright is still in the process of fully acclimating to Miami's offensive scheme, which includes an above average amount of motions and designed concepts, but that the rookie fourth-round pick has been "spending extra time doing things" at practice. Meanwhile, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site has continually mentioned Wright as a standout of training camp, singling out his speed and physicality. The former Tennessee star seems an ideal fit for coach Mike McDaniel's scheme, though it's hard to picture him receiving many rushing opportunities unless at least one of Raheem Mostert or De'Von Achane ends up missing time.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Miami ends fall in fourth round

The Dolphins selected Wright in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 120th overall. It might seem like an annoying landing spot for Wright (5-foot-11, 210 pounds) at a glance, but the former Tennessee speedster could earn more playing time than most third-string runners in Miami due to the limited workload capacities of Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. Not just that, but Wright's blazing speed (4.38-second 40) is a perfect fit for what coach Mike McDaniel does in the running game. The Dolphins have an interest in managing the workloads of Mostert and Achane so that their rare explosiveness is still intact come playoff time, and Wright gives them a means of doing so at little or no cost to effectiveness. Defenses praying for relief from the Miami speed onslaught will find no such thing when Wright takes the field. Wright probably isn't a truly complete running back and might not ever be a volume candidate himself, but Mostert and Achane have already demonstrated how a speedy runner can do major damage in the Miami offense even with modest workloads.
