Buccaneers' K.J. Britt: Won't play vs. Raiders
Britt (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Britt will miss his first game of the regular season due to an ankle injury he suffered in the first half of the Bucs' 26-23 overtime win over the Panthers this past Sunday. Britt will focus on progressing in his recovery enough to return for Week 15 against the Chargers on Sunday, Dec. 15. J.J. Russell is expected to start at inside linebacker alongside Lavonte David due to Britt's injury.

Britt suffered an ankle injury during the first half of the Buccaneers' 26-23 overtime win over the Panthers this past Sunday. The injury was severe enough for him to not return in the second half of the contest, and he was held out of the Buccaneers' first official practice of the week. Britt will have two more chances to return to practice in at least a limited capacity ahead of Sunday's home game against the Raiders.

Buccaneers' K.J. Britt: Ready for bigger role
Head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Britt is ready to become a three-down defensive player in 2024, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Britt has also demonstrated a better grasp of the mental part of the game, according to Bowles. The 24-year-old recorded 29 tackles (16 solo) and one pass defensed last season. He looks poised to take on a bigger role in the upcoming campaign, likely as a starter at inside linebacker next to Lavonte David.

Buccaneers' K.J. Britt: Breaks out in divisional-round loss
Britt recorded 12 tackles (seven solo), including one for loss, in the Buccaneers' 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Britt was the surprise runner-up in tackles on the night for the Buccaneers, trailing only Lavonte David's 13 stops. The third-year pro's numbers were all the more surprising considering he filled a rotational role for the third time in as many pro seasons in 2023, posting 29 tackles (16 solo) and one defensed pass over 16 games. Britt, a 2021 fifth-round pick, heads into the final year of his rookie contract in 2024 and could have an inside track on replacing Devin White next season if the latter is allowed to walk in free agency.
