Giants' Patrick Johnson: Lands in Big Apple
Johnson was claimed off waivers from the Eagles on Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Johnson was in the midst of his fourth season with the Eagles, primarily working as a contributor on special teams. It's likely the Giants brought him on board to handle a similar role while providing depth in their linebacker corps.

Giants' Graham Gano: Heads to IR
The Giants placed Gano (hamstring) on injured reserve Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Gano's move to IR ensures that he'll miss at least the next four games while he recovers from the right hamstring strain he sustained during the opening kickoff of this past Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. The Giants replaced Gano on the 53-man roster with Greg Joseph, who was signed off the Lions' practice squad and will take over as New York's kicker beginning with this Sunday's game in Cleveland.

Giants' Greg Joseph: Replacing injured Gano in New York
The Giants signed Joseph off the Lions' practice squad on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After losing out in the battle for the Packers' kicking job following training camp and the preseason, Joseph had to wait just two weeks before getting an opportunity with another team. With the Giants, he'll be serving as a short-term replacement for Graham Gano, who is expected to miss multiple weeks after straining his right hamstring in this past Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. The 30-year-old Joseph has appeared in 51 games with the Browns, Titans and Vikings over parts of five NFL seasons, converting 82.6 percent of his field-goal tries.

Giants' Jamie Gillan: Pressed into emergency kicking duty
Gillan missed his lone extra-point attempt and punted twice for 87 yards in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders.
After Graham Gano suffered a hamstring injury while chasing down Commanders returner Austin Ekeler on the opening kickoff, Gillan, the Giants' punter, was called upon to replace Gano for both kickoffs and placekicking. Gillan was unable to convert on a point-after try following Devin Singletary's first-quarter touchdown, prompting the Giants to stay away from Gillan on any placekicking opportunities that emerged the rest of the day. According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, head coach Brian Daboll said that Gano will be out for "a few weeks," but the Giants worked out four kickers Monday and will likely sign one or elevate Jude McAtamney from the practice squad to fill in for Gano in the team's Week 3 game in Cleveland.

Giants' Bobby Okereke: Logs sack in loss
Okereke recorded eight tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, during the Giants' 21-18 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
Okereke had a solid performance despite the loss, as he managed to bring down Jayden Daniels for one of the team's four sacks. Okereke has now amassed 11 tackles (six solo) across his first two appearances this season.

Giants' Graham Gano: Set for multi-week absence
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Monday that Gano (hamstring) will miss a "few weeks" due to the hamstring injury he sustained in Sunday's 21-18 loss to Washington, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Gano sounds like he'll miss at least Week 3 against the Browns, and the Giants then have a quick turnaround before taking on the Cowboys in a Thursday night game Sept. 26. In the meantime, New York could turn to kicker Jude McAtamney, who currently resides on the practice squad, though Daboll said the team also will host tryouts at the position.

Giants' Jason Pinnock: Records two sacks Sunday
Pinnock registered nine tackles (eight solo), including 2.0 sacks, against Washington in Sunday's Week 2 loss.
Pinnock's pair of sacks Sunday equaled the amount he tallied over 16 games and 976 defensive snaps last season. Both takedowns came as a result of Jayden Daniels trying to run rather than throw the ball away while under pressure, so it's probably not wise to assume Pinnock will have many performances like Sunday's. Still, the sacks look good on the stat sheet, as do Pinnock's nine total stops -- last season, he reached that mark only twice.

Giants' Andru Phillips: Tallies 12 tackles Sunday
Phillips recorded 12 tackles (seven solo), including a sack, in Sunday's Week 2 loss to Washington.
Phillips finished second on New York with his big tackle total. The rookie also recorded his first career sack, getting to Jayden Daniels for a five-yard loss in the first quarter. Phillips did get checked for a concussion in the fourth quarter but was subsequently cleared and returned to the contest. He's impressed through two NFL games and appears set to be a big part of the Giants' secondary this season.
