  • Jets' Haason Reddick: Underperforms with Jets

Reddick tallied 14 total tackles (nine solo), including 1.0 sacks, defended one pass and forced one fumble over 10 games in 2024.

Reddick's first season in New York didn't go according to plan, as he was traded from the Eagles to the Jets in late March due to a contract dispute. He then held out of the Jets' training camp and first seven games while negotiating an extension with his new team. The Temple product underwhelmed upon his return in 2024, recording the fewest tackles and tying the lowest sack total of his career. Now set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer, Reddick likely cost himself significant earnings by holding out and underperforming in 2024. He will aim to return to his usual form as one of the NFL's top edge rushers in 2025, whether he remains with the Jets or signs elsewhere.

  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Injuries derail 2024 campaign

Mosley (neck) recorded 17 total tackles (13 solo) over four games in 2024.

Mosley sustained a toe injury in the Jets' Week 1 loss to the 49ers that sidelined him for three of the team's next six games. He was limited in the games he did play as well, logging just 43 defensive snaps across those three contests. The veteran linebacker then suffered a neck injury during the pregame warmups before the Week 8 matchup against the Patriots, which led to him being sidelined for the remainder of the season. Mosley remains under contract through the 2025 season, so he's expected to stay with the Jets. The 32-year-old has averaged 156 total tackles in his last three full NFL seasons and is projected to serve as one of the Jets' top inside linebackers next year once he's recovers from his neck injury.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Misses four games in 2024

Carter recorded 24 total tackles (20 solo) and one pass defended over 13 games in 2024.

Carter nursed a back injury for most of the regular season, which sidelined him for four games. Additionally, Carter played 384 fewer defensive snaps (647 snaps in 2023 compared to 263 in 2024) and made five fewer starts (six starts in 2023 to one in 2024), contributing to an immense decline in tackles (26 fewer) and passes defended (eight fewer) in 2024. The Duke product inked a three-year, $30.75 million extension with the Jets in September of 2024 and is under contract through the 2027 season. He's expected to remain one of the Jets' top slot defenders in 2025.

  • Jets' Solomon Thomas: Productive in 2024

Thomas tallied 26 total tackles (15 solo), including 3.5 sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble over 16 games in 2024.

Despite starting just one game in 2024, Thomas was relatively productive, playing 430 defensive snaps and ranking fifth on the Jets' defense in tackles for loss (five) and sacks. While his tackle (31 to 26) and sack (5.0 to 3.5) totals declined from his 2023 campaign, he played 36 fewer defensive snaps this season and recorded more passes defended (two to one) and forced fumbles (one to zero) than in 2023. Thomas is now set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after signing a one-year, $2.35 million deal with the Jets last offseason. If he remains with the Jets in 2025, he's likely to serve as one of the team's top reserve defensive linemen.

  • Jets' Will McDonald: Breaks out in second season

McDonald posted 28 total tackles (18 solo), including 10.5 sacks, three passes defended and two forced fumbles across 17 games in 2024.

The 2023 first-round pick from Iowa State made a tremendous leap in production from his rookie season to 2024, tying Jonathon Cooper, Dante Fowler and Travon Walker for the 12th-most sacks in the NFL. McDonald also ranked among the NFL's top 15 edge rushers in quarterback hits (12), pressures (61) and batted passes (three) this season. He's now entering the third season of his rookie contract and is expected to remain one of the premier edge rushers in the league, with aspirations of earning his first Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors in 2025.

  • Jets' Chazz Surratt: Sees more defensive work in 2024

Surratt recorded 28 total tackles (18 solo) over 17 games in 2024.

The 2021 third-round pick from North Carolina played a career-high 127 defensive snaps during the regular season after playing just nine defensive snaps over his first three seasons in the NFL. Surratt logged 15 or more defensive snaps in four games this year, recording 11 total tackles in those contests. He's set to become a restricted free agent this summer, giving the Jets the option to match any contract he receives from other teams. If Surratt remains with the Jets in 2025, he's expected to serve as one of the team's top reserve inside linebackers.

  • Jets' Micheal Clemons: Career year in 2024

Clemons tallied 34 total tackles, including 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble over 17 games in 2024.

The third-year pro from Texas A&M started all 17 of the Jets' games this season and set a new career high in sacks, solidifying himself as one of New York's best edge rushers. Clemons began to see less defensive work once Haason Reddick returned from his contract dispute in Week 8, but he still logged a career-high 581 defensive snaps played this season. Heading into the final season of his rookie deal in 2025, Clemons has accumulated 97 total tackles, including 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles across 49 games with the Jets over the past three years.

  • Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Disappoints in 2024

Davis recorded 35 total tackles and two interceptions over 15 games in 2024.

The 28-year-old safety from California tallied fewer tackles (37 to 35), passes defended (eight to two), interceptions (three to two) and forced fumbles (one to zero) this season compared to his output in 2023, despite playing 35 more defensive snaps. However, Davis was productive in his lone start this season, recording nine total tackles and two interceptions in the Jets' Week 18 win over the Dolphins. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after signing a one-year, $2.7 million deal with the Jets last offseason.

  • Jets' Brandin Echols: Has promising 2024 campaign

Echols logged 40 tackles (29 solo), three pass defenses (including two interceptions) and a recovered fumble over 16 games (four starts) during the regular season.

Echols' role fluctuated significantly throughout the campaign -- for example, he logged over 90 percent of New York's defensive snaps in four games but played exclusively on special teams in four other contests. Nonetheless, he co-led New York with two pickoffs, marking the second time in four career campaigns he's notched multiple interceptions. Echols will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and if he returns to the Jets he has an opportunity to move into a starting role, as fellow cornerback D.J. Reed is unlikely to come back.

  • Jets' Javon Kinlaw: Posts best numbers of career

Kinlaw recorded 40 tackles (27 solo), including 4.5 sacks, along with two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble in 17 games (all starts) during the 2024 regular season.

Kinlaw played in all 17 regular-season contests for the second straight season, but unlike in 2023 with San Francisco when he started just six games, he was in the starting unit every week for the Jets this year. The 2020 first-round draft pick thus notched career-high marks with 645 defensive snaps, 40 stops and 4.5 sacks. Kinlaw is set to become an unrestricted free agent upon the beginning of the offseason.
