Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Washington bound in fourth round
The Commanders selected Lane in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 128th overall.
Lane was a dominant receiver at Middle Tennessee State during his junior season before jumping to the ACC and producing 1,004 receiving yards and eight touchdowns over two seasons at Virginia Tech. While he didn't lead the Hokies in receiving in either season, Lane showed versatility by adding 167 yards and two scores on the ground in addition to averaging 10.2 yards per punt return during his final season, finding the end zone once as a returner. With a 4.34 40-yard dash under his belt, Lane could slot in immediately as the Commanders' punt returner while he tries to earn a role in the offense.

Commanders' Trey Amos: Washington adds second-round corner
The Commanders selected Amos in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 61st overall.
Amos (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) is a prototypical starting boundary corner in terms of size and athleticism (4.43-second 40-yard dash), and the Commanders made this selection with the idea of him starting for them sooner rather than later. Amos did not earn a starting role until his third year at Louisiana-Lafayette, though, which might indicate that his skills might be slightly lagging behind his more clearly standout athleticism. Amos was a backup at Alabama in 2023 before starting at Mississippi in his fifth collegiate season in 2024.

Commanders' Josh Conerly: Commanders boost OL at 29th pick
The Commanders selected Conerly in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 29th overall.
Conerly (6-foot-5, 311 pounds) is an Oregon tackle who is a little light on anchor and reach (33 and 1/2-inch arms), but his on-field play was very good as an early-entrant two-year starter at left tackle. Conerly's strong collegiate play is largely explained by his athleticism, which is arguably elite or close to it thanks to a 5.05-second 40-yard dash and a borderline wacky 34.5-inch vertical. With Laremy Tunsil at left tackle it would seem that Conerly's best chance to play is at right tackle, where Andrew Wylie is the present competition.
