Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Eight-game, 13-point streak
Tavares scored a goal Tuesday in 3-1 win over the Islanders.
It came on the power play into an empty net in the last minute of the game. Tavares extended his point streak to eight games (seven goals, six assists). JT seems to be staving off Father Time this season with 19 goals and 38 points in 37 appearances. His 17.1 shooting percentage is well above his 13.0 career mark, but it's not like he's never done this before. Tavares hit at 16.4 percent in his first season with the Leafs when he lit the lamp 47 times. It helps that his deployment will continue to be prime with Auston Matthews (upper body) back on the IR.

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Enters NHL history books
Tavares scored twice in a 5-2 loss to Winnipeg on Monday.
His first goal was his 200th with the Maple Leafs. Tavares scored 272 goals with the Islanders. He's now in elite territory as the fifth player in NHL history to score 200 goals with two teams. Tavares joins Wayne Gretzky (Oilers, Kings), Lanny McDonald (Maple Leafs, Flames), Mark Messier (Oilers, Rangers) and Keith Tkachuk (Jets/Coyotes, Blues). That's heady company. Then there's his current five-game, nine-point streak that includes five goals, and his 17 goals overall have him on the NHL's top-10 sniper list. Yes, Tavares, the gray beard that Leafs' fans have wanted to jettison. His value to fantasy managers this season is immense.

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Two apples in win
Tavares picked up two assists Thursday in a 3-2 win over the Ducks.
Tavares set up both of Max Pacioretty's goals. Tavares hadn't picked up any helpers since Nov. 24, a span of seven games. That period coincided with the line shuffling that came with Auston Matthews' return from injury. Tavares benefited from having Mitch Marner beside him while Matthews was out. Now, it looks like Tavares and Pacioretty have plenty of sparks together. Tavares is a solid fantasy play, as he has 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) and 92 shots over 28 games this season.

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Six-game, nine-point streak
Tavares picked up two assists Thursday in a 4-1 victory over the Kraken.
Both assists came on William Nylander goals. Tavares has gotten hot fast after coach Craig Berube reunited him with Nylander on the second line. He has five points (three goals, two assists) in his last two games while skating with Nylander, and the assists stretched his point streak to six games (three goals, six assists). Tavares' deployment on line two makes him a strong fantasy option, as long as the Leafs don't trade for a second-line center.
