  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: No specific timeline to return

Landeskog (knee) does not have a specific timeline to return, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.

Landeskog will make the final call for when he's ready to return, according to head coach Jared Bednar. The 31-year-old is not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, but he could return from a two-year absence shortly after if his surgically repaired knee continues to hold up well during camp.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Might return early in 2024-25

Landeskog (knee) isn't likely to be available Oct. 9 for Colorado's regular-season opener, but he might play not long after that, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com on Saturday.

Landeskog has been skating over the summer, and while there's no timetable for his return, coach Jared Bednar said there's increasing optimism that the Avalanche captain won't have to go too deep into the 2024-25 campaign before making his season debut. Landeskog hasn't played since June 26, 2022, but before experiencing injury issues, he was an elite forward. After shaking off some rust, he could produce at about a point-per-game pace while serving in a top-six capacity and working on the first power-play unit.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Not ready to retire

Landeskog (knee) will not be retiring and is focusing on returning for the 2024-25 campaign, Meghan Angley of DNVR Avalanche reports Thursday.

Landeskog's future was understandably in doubt considering he hasn't played in an NHL game since June of 2022. If given the all-clear ahead of next season, the 31-year-old winger should be in contention for a top-six role and should still be capable of putting up 25-30 goals as long as he's able to remain healthy.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Takes ice Thursday

Landeskog (knee) was able to get onto the ice Thursday for the first time since undergoing cartilage transplant surgery in May, Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com reports.

Landeskog's recovery is going to be a slow process, which is why the team ruled him out for the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign even prior to his surgery. Still, it's a step in the right direction for the 31-year-old winger, who will no doubt hope to return to being a 50-plus point producer starting with the 2024-25 season. For now, Landeskog's presence on the ice will only be a factor for dynasty/keeper formats as he still makes sense as a future stash player given his offensive upside.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Won't play next season

Landeskog will undergo a cartilage transplant in his right knee Wednesday and is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 season.

Landeskog sat out the entirety of the 2022-23 regular season as well as the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs because of a knee injury. The 30-year-old forward hasn't been in the lineup for the Avalanche since lifting the Stanley Cup on June 26, 2022. Landeskog produced 30 goals and 59 points in 51 appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Will miss playoffs

Landeskog (knee) won't be an option for the 2023 playoffs.

Landeskog hasn't played at all in the 2022-23 campaign because of the injury. His absence has left a big hole in the Avalanche's lineup, which will continue to be felt in the playoffs, especially after Landeskog recorded 11 goals and 22 points in 20 contests during the Avalanche's 2022 Stanley Cup run. The 30-year-old is signed to an eight-year, $56 million contract that runs through 2028-29.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: May not return during regular season

Landeskog (knee) may miss the entirety of the regular season, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.

Landeskog resumed skating in February, but he remains without a definite timetable for his return, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Avalanche hold him out until postseason play gets underway. The 30-year-old Swede, who has yet to play this season after undergoing knee surgery in October, racked up 30 goals, 59 points and 150 shots on net through 51 games last campaign.

  • Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog: Will start skating soon

Landeskog (knee) will return to Denver shortly and start skating, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

Landeskog has yet to play this season and while it was thought he could return by mid-January, a return in mid-March or later, is more likely. Landeskog will need a couple of weeks to get in skating shape and then some full practices as well, before he is able to return to the lineup. He had 30 goals and 59 points in 51 games last season.
