Kreider scored a goal in the USA's 2-1 loss to Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Monday.
It was Kreider's first game of the tournament, and he scored just 35 seconds into the game. Kreider was Johnny-on-the-spot when Samuel Ersson kicked out a rebound off a Zach Werenski shot and straight onto the forward's tape. He wired it into a wide-open net. Kreider's NHL season has been forgettable -- he has just 20 points, including 16 goals, in 47 games -- after putting up a wicked 39 goals and 75 points in 82 games the season before. This goal could go a long way to boosting his confidence. A tournament win Thursday would be an even bigger boost.

Rangers' Chris Kreider: Nets shortie in win
Kreider scored a shorthanded goal on two shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
Kreider cashed in on a pass from Mika Zibanejad in the third period for what ended up being the game-winning goal. While those two forwards aren't even-strength linemates anymore, they remain a key part of the penalty kill. Kreider has two points through three outings in February and is up to 16 goals, three assists, 112 shots on net, 60 hits and a minus-7 rating over 45 outings. Kreider ended a four-game point drought and has earned two goals and a helper over nine contests since he returned from an upper-body injury. The winger has just three helpers to go with 15 goals, 106 shots on net, 58 hits, 20 PIM and a minus-8 rating through 43 appearances. Kreider was on the third line in the Rangers' remodeled lineup following the acquisition of J.T. Rangers' Chris Kreider: Designated for injured reserve
Kreider (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
Based on his IR designation, Kreider will need to miss at least the Rangers' next three contests due to his upper-body injury, though it could certainly be longer. With the available roster spot, the team is reportedly bringing up Matt Rempe from AHL Hartford, though he'll need to serve out one more game of his eight-game suspension. For now, Jonny Brodzinski looks poised to fill a top-six role in Kreider's absence, though the newly acquired Arthur Kaliyev could also be in the mix.
