Ullmark is contending with an illness and will not be available for Sweden's game versus Team USA on Monday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Samuel Ersson will get the start in place of Ullmark at TD Garden in Boston. The Swedes will be playing for pride Monday -- the Americans will face Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off Final on Thursday. Ullmark will have plenty of time to recover before the Senators resume play Saturday against Montreal.

Senators' Linus Ullmark: Exits ice first Monday
Ullmark was the first goalie off the ice Monday, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports, indicating he'll be between the pipes for Sweden's game against Team USA.
Ullmark saw action in relief of Filip Gustavsson against Finland on Saturday and will now get the starting nod for a crucial matchup with the Americans. In his two appearances with Ottawa following his extended absence due to a back injury, the 31-year-old netminder underwhelmed, giving up seven goals on 84 shots (.917 save percentage) in a pair of defeats. He'll need to perform significantly better if Sweden is going to make the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Senators' Linus Ullmark: Appears in relief at 4 Nations
Ullmark took over the Swedish net Saturday to start the second period of their 4-3 overtime loss to Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal. He made 15 saves.
Filip Gustavsson had seemed off his game in the warm-up, and he allowed two goals on four shots in the first period before leaving with an illness. Ullmark was solid, but he got fooled in OT when Mikael Granlund came in on the right side of a 3-on-1, looking pass all the way, before threading the puck through the five-hole. The Swedes play Team USA on Monday in Boston. We'll know more about who'll get the net then.

Senators' Linus Ullmark: Pelted with pucks in loss
Ullmark made 43 saves Saturday in a 5-1 loss to Florida.
He allowed four goals, all of which came in the second period. Ullmark was flat-out shelled Saturday, with 26 shots coming in the first half of the game. His defense was suspect, and he should have had Gustav Forsling's goal, which came on a long, unobstructed shot. But this loss wasn't on him. Ullmark is still waiting for his first win since his return from injury (0-2-0), so that may come at the 4 Nations Face-Off, which starts next week.

Senators' Linus Ullmark: Not yet ready to suit up
Ullmark (back) won't be available to serve as a backup for Thursday's home game against the Capitals, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
Ullmark remains on long-term injured reserve due to his back injury, but he was working in a net during Thursday's morning skate, fueling speculation that he'd be cleared to serve as Anton Forsberg's backup. However, Ullmark will require at least one more game on the shelf, while Leevi Merilainen will serve as the No. 2 netminder against Washington. Ullmark's next chance to suit up will be at home against Minnesota on Saturday.

Senators' Linus Ullmark: Poised to return soon
Ullmark (back) might be an option against either the Capitals or Wild on Thursday or Saturday, respectively, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Ullmark was riding a seven-game winning streak prior to suffering his back injury, which has kept the netminder on the shelf since Dec. 22 versus Edmonton. Once the 31-year-old backstop is given the all-clear, he figures to replace Leevi Merilainen as the No. 1 option in Ottawa, though he could be forced into more of a split share to start.

He traveled with the Senators during the team's road trip that concludes Thursday, so he appears to be trending in the right direction. David Perron was activated from injured reserve in a corresponding move.

Ullmark (back) has been upgraded to day-to-day and will accompany the Senators on their three-game road trip that begins Sunday in New Jersey.
Ullmark is not guaranteed to play during the trip, but it appears he's getting closer after being considered week-to-week since early January. He has already missed 11 consecutive contests. Once Ullmark returns, the Senators will have a tough decision to make, as Leevi Merilainen has outplayed Anton Forsberg during Ullmark's absence.

Senators' Linus Ullmark: Lands on injured reserve
Ullmark (back) was designated for injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site.
Ullmark was classified as week-to-week by the Senators on Sunday, so his placement on IR shouldn't be a shock to fantasy players. In his stead, both Anton Forsberg and Leevi Merilainen should get opportunities to start. In his 23 appearances this year, the 31-year-old Ullmark has registered a 12-7-2 record to go with a 2.38 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
