Hischier was the most productive player for the Devils on Thursday, as he was involved directly in three of the team's five goals to record his second multi-point game over his last four appearances. The 26-year-old has been one of the strongest contributors for the Devils this year, logging 42 points across 50 appearances, and he could be on pace to reach the 60-point plateau for the fourth straight season.

Hischier scored twice Thursday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs.
Hischier has three goals in his last two games and 22 in 47 games. But he has just four points including those three snipes, in his last nine games. Hischier isn't likely to hit the point-per-game plateau this season for the second time in his career, but a 65-point year is possible. Then it's decision time for fantasy managers -- is he a 60-67 point guy after delivering in that range three times in his last four seasons. Or is Hischier the point-per-game pivot he was in 2022-23 (80 points, 81 games). We're watching that carefully, because that's a huge difference in fantasy value.

Devils' Nico Hischier: Scores goal vs. Florida
Hischier scored a goal in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Panthers.
Hischier has cracked the scoresheet in three of his last five appearances, but the 26-year-old hasn't exactly set the world on fire with his numbers in recent weeks. He remains productive, however, and his excellent start to the season -- he notched 15 points in his first 13 games -- means he's recorded 37 points over 46 regular-season appearances thus far.

Hischier has 19 snipes (35 points) in 42 games this season, and he remains on pace for a career high in goals. His 19 markers lead the Devils. In an odd bit of trivia, Hischier's goal was the third one he's tallied on his birthday (2019, 2023 and 2025). Overall, the Devils haven't been sharp on their current road trip, losing four straight heading into Seattle on Monday. Take a breath -- Hischier will help get them back on track.

Devils' Nico Hischier: On pace for career high in goals
Hischier netted his team-leading 18th goal of the season in Friday's 4-2 win over Carolina.
Hischier converted a two-on-one rush chance after being set up by Stefan Noesen late in the opening frame. Hischier is riding a three-game point streak consisting of two goals and three assists, and he's registered at least one point in five of his past six games. His recent hot stretch follows up a five-game dry spell, in which he was held off the scoresheet in the first five games of December. New Jersey's captain is third on the team in scoring with 34 points (16 helpers) through 38 games, and he's well on his way to surpassing his career-high 31 markers that he delivered during the 2022-23 campaign.

It was Hischier's first multi-point performance since Nov. 29. Hischier had a productive fantasy week, racking up five goals and an assist over his last four games. The 25-year-old struggled to score for most of November before ending the month on a high note. Overall, he has 15 tallies, 12 assists, 77 shots on net, 21 blocked shots, a plus-10 rating and 11 power-play points through 27 appearances. He's fallen just a little shy of a point-per-game pace in the previous two seasons, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him maintain that level in 2024-25 as the Devils compete for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division.

Two of the assists came on the power play. He also had three shots and one hit on the night. Hischier has four assists in his last two games after putting up a single helper over his previous five games. He has 20 points, including 10 goals, in 20 games this season, but he has gone nine games without padding that category. Hischier's best season came in 2022-23 when he fired 31 goals and put up 80 points, 256 shots and a plus-33 rating. He's well on his way to equaling that total.

Hischier shot a remarkable 22.7 percent during a 10-goal, 15-point October, but his luck has dried up. He's 0-for-8 on shots over six games in November, adding two assists. While he's at 17 points, 52 shots on net, 17 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating over 19 contests, he will need to find a bit more consistency moving forward, which shouldn't be too tough to do in a top-six role.

While his 21.7 shooting percentage is likely to come down, Hischier should still offer strong offense as an all-situations center in the top six of a high-scoring team (3.53 goals per game).

Hischier has five goals and two helpers during his active four-game point streak. The center's talent was already well regarded, but he's taking things to another level in 2024-25 with 10 goals, five assists, 44 shots on net, 12 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating through 13 contests. The 25-year-old has yet to finish at or above a point-per-game pace in a full season, coming close with 80 points in 81 games in 2022-23.
