Sabres' Josh Norris: Flipped at deadline
Norris, along with Jacob Bernard-Docker, was acquired by the Sabres from the Senators on Friday in a swap for Dylan Cozens, Dennis Gilbert and a 2026 second-round pick.
Norris is a slightly risky play for the Sabres given his injury history -- he hasn't reached the 60-game mark in either of the previous two seasons -- but offers more scoring upside at this point. Through 53 games this year, the 25-year-old center has already notched 20 goals, including six with the man advantage. With Buffalo, Norris could supplant Jiri Kulich as the No. 1 center and get minutes alongside Tage Thompson at both even strength and with the man advantage.

It's the first points in three games for Norris since he returned from an upper-body injury, and Wednesday's tally was his 20th of the season -- the second time in his career he's reached that mark. He returned to the lineup after missing six games because of an upper-body injury. Norris has talent, but his injury history is stunning. Last season, he had a third surgery on his left shoulder and missed almost the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign. Before that, Norris delivered a tantalizing 35 goals in 66 games in 2021-22, and fantasy managers started lining up for his services. At this point, you need to temper any expectations you have for him. Norris has 19 goals in 51 games this season, and if he can regain his form, he could pot another eight or nine. But that means he'd need to stay healthy, and that's always a risk.
