  • Bruins' Alec Regula: Set to miss start of camp

Regula (lower body) is expected to miss the beginning of training camp, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal on Tuesday.

Regula is still working his way back from a lower-body procedure in the summer. The 24-year-old blueliner produced four goals and 26 points across 55 regular-season outings for AHL Providence in 2023-24. Regula will likely play most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Bruins' Brad Marchand: Recovering from surgeries

Marchand underwent surgery on his elbow, groin and abdominal area during the offseason, according to Amalie Benjamin of NHL.com.

Marchand played through a torn elbow tendon for the entire 2023-24 campaign while dealing with sports hernia issues later in the year. He didn't do much training over the summer but hopes to be ready for the start of camp. However, it wouldn't be surprising if he was limited during on-ice sessions out of the gate. Marchand registered 29 goals and 67 points across 82 regular-season contests in 2023-24 before adding three tallies and seven assists in 11 playoff outings.

  • Bruins' Tyler Johnson: Agrees to professional tryout

Johnson signed a professional tryout agreement with Boston on Saturday.

Johnson generated 17 goals, 14 assists and 112 shots on net across 67 regular-season contests with Chicago in 2023-24. If he earns a standard contract with the Bruins, he could occupy a bottom-six spot in the lineup during the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Bruins' Marc McLaughlin: Signs two-way deal

McLaughlin signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Tuesday.

McLaughlin produced eight goals and 14 points in 68 regular-season games for AHL Providence in 2023-24. He scored one goal in his lone NHL regular-season appearance with Boston last campaign. McLaughlin will likely spend most, if not all, of 2024-25 in the minors.

  • Bruins' Alec Regula: Snags two-way deal

Regula signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Friday.

Regula has logged just 22 NHL games, with the most recent outing coming during the 2022-23 campaign when he was with the Blackhawks. The fact that the 23-year-old defenseman racked up 26 points in 55 games for AHL Providence last year could earn him a look during training camp, but fantasy players should be expecting Regula to spend the bulk of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors with AHL Providence.

  • Bruins' Michael Callahan: Signs one-year deal

Callahan penned a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Friday.

Callahan has yet to make his NHL debut after being selected by the Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft. Last year, the 24-year-old defenseman generated four goals and 13 helpers in 70 regular-season contests. While Callahan could make his debut this year, he figures to spend the bulk of the campaign in the minors with AHL Providence.

  • Bruins' Jeffrey Viel: Signs two-year deal

Viel inked a two-year, $1.55 million contract with Boston on Monday.

Viel's deal will convert to a one-way contract in year two, which is a good sign for the Bruins' long-term confidence in the winger. Still, Viel is already 27 years of age and has played in just 49 NHL games across three seasons with the Sharks. None of those appearances came last season, with Viel spending the entire campaign in the minors with AHL Manitoba. With the Moose, Viel notched 17 goals and 23 assists in 69 regular-season contests.

  • Bruins' Billy Sweezey: Inks two-year contract

Sweezey signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Bruins on Monday.

Sweezey had a goal, four points and 73 PIM in 57 regular-season outings with AHL Cleveland in 2023-24. The 28-year-old is likely to spend next season in the minors.

  • Bruins' Jordan Oesterle: Headed for Beantown

Oesterle signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Bruins on Monday.

Oesterle played in 22 regular-season games for the Flames last year in which he notched two assists, 18 shots and 33 blocked shots while averaging 13:31 of ice time. Considering the Bruins added Nikita Zadarov to an already deep defensive core Monday, the 32-year-old Oesterle figures to spend most of the campaign with AHL Providence.

  • Bruins' Cole Koepke: Secures two-way deal

Koepke signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Monday.

Koepke has played in 26 regular-season NHL games for the Lightning over the last two seasons, registering one goal, two assists and 21 shots. The 26-year-old winger is unlikely to break into the Bruins' lineup with any consistency this year and figures to serve primarily as a depth option with AHL Providence.

  • Bruins' Riley Tufte: Lands in Beantown

Tufte signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with Boston on Monday.

Tufte notched one goal and one assist in five regular-season outings with the Avalanche in 2023-24. He also registered 23 goals and 45 points across 67 regular-season contests with AHL Colorado this past campaign. It wouldn't be surprising if Tufte spent most of 2024-25 in the minors.

  • Bruins' Max Jones: Gets two-year contract

Jones signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Bruins on Monday, according to Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald.

Jones had five goals, 15 points, 33 PIM and 125 hits in 52 appearances with Anaheim in 2023-24. The Ducks decided against making him a qualifying offer, which is how the 26-year-old became an unrestricted free agent. Jones will likely get an opportunity to play regularly on Boston's fourth line.

  • Bruins' Nikita Zadorov: Inks $30 milllion deal

Zadorov agreed to terms on a six-year, $30 million contract with the Bruins on Monday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Zadorov split his 2023-24 season between the Flames and Canucks, playing in a total of 65 regular-season contests. In those outings, the 29-year-old defenseman notched 20 points, reaching that threshold for the third consecutive campaign. He figures to serve primarily as a shutdown defensive option in a bottom-four role with minimal power-play minutes -- though he should still be able to chip in 20-25 points.

  • Bruins' Elias Lindholm: Signs seven-year deal

Lindholm secured a seven-year, $54.25 million contract with Boston on Monday, Irfaan Gaffar of The Fourth Period reports.

Lindholm managed just 15 goals in 75 regular-season contests between the Flames and Canucks in 2023-24, his lowest goal total since 2016-17 when he was with Carolina. While a first-line role probably is unlikely with the Bruins, Lindholm should be in the mix for power-play minutes. Look for the Swede to get himself back above the 20-goal mark this year and could even challenge for 30 given the talent around him, though that's a level he's reached just once in his 11-year career.

  • Bruins' Matthew Poitras: Suiting up for development camp

Poitras (shoulder) took the ice in a regular sweater for the start of the Bruins' development camp Monday, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.

Poitras was limited to just 33 regular-season games for Boston this past season due to injury but looks ready to go ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. In those limited appearances, the 20-year-old center notched five goals on 40 shots to go with 10 helpers. Barring any injury setbacks, Poitras should be a near-lock to make the Opening Night roster in October.

  • Bruins' Vinni Lettieri: Heads back to Boston in trade

Lettieri has been acquired in trade by the Bruins from the Wild in exchange for Jakub Lauko, reports TSN.ca. The teams also exchanged 2024 fourth-round draft picks.

Lettieri is a 29-year-old depth center who put up five goals and four assists in 46 regular-season games while averaging under 10 minutes a game with Minnesota in 2023-24. He has played 129 NHL games over the last six seasons, including one previous game with the Bruins in 2022-23. That season, Lettieri played 48 games with the Bruins' AHL affiliate in Providence, delivering 49 points (23 goals, 26 assists). Lettieri will vie for a role on the Bruins' fourth line in camp.

  • Bruins' Dean Letourneau: Unicorn on skates goes in Round 1

Letourneau was the 25th overall pick by the Bruins in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.

Letourneau is a unicorn and a pretty talented one at that. First, he's a 6-foot-7, 18-year-old, and he's a center who's really athletic. Don't forget the whole right shot thing, too. His tools look impressive. Letourneau overpowered competition at St. Andrew's College, a Canadian prep school, so time is needed to determine if any of these tantalizing attributes can morph into a successful NHL career. Still, the package is almost one of a kind. He's heading off to Boston College, where he will get some great coaching and time to develop. He won't dominate like Tage Thompson, but he might be a third-line monster on a contending team a la Nick Bjugstad.
