Islanders' David Rittich: Facing Flames
Rittich will defend the visiting cage against Calgary on Saturday, per Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.
Rittich spent parts of his first five seasons in the NHL with the Flames. He is having a terrific season, posting an 11-5-3 record with two shutouts, a gaudy 2.39 GAA and a .910 save percentage across 19 appearances. Calgary ranks 31st in the NHL with 2.55 goals per game this campaign.

Islanders' Bo Horvat: Unlikely to join team on road trip
The Islanders announced Friday that Horvat (lower body) is unlikely to join the team on its current road trip, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
The Islanders have three games remaining on their seven-game road trip, and while Horvat was initially expected to be with the team for the start of the trip, he's now been ruled out for the entire trip. However, the Islanders said that the 30-year-old hasn't experienced a setback in his recovery process, and he continues to skate at the team's facility. Horvat's next opportunity to suit up will be when the team returns home to face the Sabres on Jan. 24.

Islanders' Anthony Duclair: Nets lone goal in win
Duclair scored a power-play goal on two shots in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Oilers.
Duclair has five goals and two assists over his last five points. His tally Thursday at 13:42 of the third period broke a scoreless deadlock, and it was all the help Ilya Sorokin needed to get the win. Duclair is up to a total of nine goals, 20 points (three on the power play), 55 shots on net, 26 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating over 44 appearances. The 30-year-old winger is starting to get consistent top-six minutes, which is paying off for now. Fantasy managers can consider Duclair a decent speculative add while his offense is hot.

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Perfect against Oilers
Sorokin posted a 35-save shutout in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Oilers.
Sorokin was given a vote of confidence from head coach Patrick Roy to make this start after giving up five goals to the Jets on Tuesday. That faith was rewarded as Sorokin secured his league-leading fifth shutout of the campaign while snapping Connor McDavid's 20-game point streak in the process. The 30-year-old Sorokin has won three of his last four games and is up to 15-11-2 with a 2.47 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 28 starts. If he gets the start Saturday in Calgary, he'd have a favorable matchup, though it's a matinee game that Roy might want to give to the former Flame, David Rittich, instead.

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Starting in Edmonton
Sorokin will be between the visiting pipes in Edmonton on Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Sorokin struggled Tuesday, allowing five goals on only 22 shots in a 5-4 loss to Winnipeg. Sorokin is 14-11-2 with four shutouts, a 2.57 GAA and a .911 save percentage across 27 appearances this season. The Oilers are third in NHL scoring, averaging 3.38 goals per contest.

Islanders' Kyle MacLean: Lights lamp Tuesday
MacLean scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Jets.
MacLean ended a 12-game point drought with the goal. He was scratched twice in that span, as the Islanders have started to rotate players on the fourth line a bit. MacLean has a modest four points, 25 shots on net, 57 hits, 27 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 30 appearances this season. He could find it tougher to stay in the lineup once Bo Horvat (lower body) is able to return.

Islanders' Anthony Duclair: Pots goal in loss
Duclair scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Jets.
Duclair has played in four straight contests after three healthy scratches between Dec. 27 and Jan. 3. The 30-year-old winger was on the top line Tuesday, scoring at 7:40 of the second period to spark a comeback push that wiped out an initial 3-0 deficit. Duclair is now at eight goals, 19 points, 53 shots on net, 25 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating over 43 appearances, which is noticeably better than his 11-point effort in 44 games a year ago.

Islanders' Emil Heineman: Converts penalty shot
Heineman scored a goal on a penalty shot, fired six shots on net and added four hits in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Jets.
Heineman's steady play from earlier in the season has dropped off, as he's gotten on the scoresheet in just four of the last 13 games. The 24-year-old winger is still seeing top-six minutes at even strength while playing in all situations. He's at 14 goals, 21 points, 100 shots on net, 152 hits, 31 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 46 appearances. Heineman's physical play gives him a higher floor than other players at similar levels of offense.

Islanders' Matthew Schaefer: Scores late goal in loss
Schaefer scored a goal in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Jets.
Schaefer has kept rolling in January with four goals and an assist over six games this month. The rookie defenseman reached the 30-point mark Tuesday (13 goals, 17 assists). He's added 116 shots on net, 63 blocked shots, 20 hits, 24 PIM and a plus-9 rating. He took some wear and tear in this contest, including getting pulled by the concussion spotter, but he was able to return and finished the game with 22:39 of ice time.

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Yields five goals in loss
Sorokin stopped 17 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Jets.
He allowed four of the five goals in the second period, wasting a three-goal comeback from the Islanders in the middle of the frame. Sorokin had not given up more than four goals in any outing this season, and no more than three in each of his last five games. The 30-year-old netminder is at a 14-11-2 record with a 2.57 GAA and a .911 save percentage over 27 starts. The Islanders' road trip continues with a tough matchup in Edmonton on Thursday. Sorokin did not face the Oilers on Oct. 16 in the Islanders' first matchup against them this season.

Sorokin will defend the road net against Winnipeg on Tuesday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Sorokin has won his last two outings while stopping 77 of the 80 shots he has faced. He has a 14-10-2 record, a 2.46 GAA, a .915 save percentage and four shutouts through 26 appearances this season. Winnipeg ranks 21st in the league with 2.93 goals per game during the 2025-26 campaign.

Islanders' Dmitri Gamzin: Re-ups with KHL team
Gamzin agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with CSKA Moscow on Monday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Gamzin -- who was selected by the Islanders in the fourth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft -- is putting up fantastic numbers in the KHL this year, going 14-6-4 with a 1.71 GAA and .933 save percentage. With his new contract in hand, New York fans will have to wait even longer to get their first in-person look at the 22-year-old backstop.

Islanders' Matthew Highmore: Earns trio of helpers
Highmore notched three assists in AHL Bridgeport's 5-1 win over Hartford on Sunday.
Highmore had recently gone nine games without a point, but he has two helpers over his last four contests. The veteran forward has put together a decent campaign with 20 points over 34 outings this season. If he can continue to play well, he could be a call-up option later in the season.

Islanders' Isaiah George: Collects three points
George scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Bridgeport's 5-1 win over Hartford on Sunday.
George has battled injuries a couple of times this season, with his three points Sunday representing his first contribution since Dec. 13. He's now at two goals and six helpers over 21 appearances. The Islanders have plenty of blue-line depth at the NHL level, so the 21-year-old George is likely to spend most of the campaign working on his development.
